The Police 4 light vg 10 is my current edc. I would love to see this model in the Salt series.

Yeah it's kind of a wonder that they did a black blade in PD#1 but didn't do Magnacut (yet). Don't get me wrong, I love tool steel. But at the same time the P4 does cry out for a Salt version, and please, give us G-10 scales. FRN is right out...

this is very welcome news. i've struggled justifying the secondary market pricing on the original blackout se; will definitely be picking up one of these up. hopefully they'll be releasing se version in future as well; imagine it would be even more well received.

That's priced much higher than the Sprint Run. Weird.

I've carried the Police 4 LW as an EDC for about 8 years. Hopefully we get a "Spyderco Police 4 Salt Black G-10" (I just bought a Military 2 Salt G10 to compare, but I doubt I'll use it much because the blade stalk is too thick)

The only think I don't like about the Police 4 is that the blade always reflects light in my eye every time I look at it. Other than that, I'd say it's perfect.

Late to the party.

Spyderco doesn't like old knife guys. We don't like change. I don't think the Police Model should have torx screws and it should be tip down only. All those extra holes are ugly. So I only buy used knives. Spyderco doesn't get much money from me.
My first Spyderco was the Police Model in 1988.

As far as stainless steel folders go, I totally agree. Pinned construction and single position clip is the way to go.
For just about any other scale material I prefer screws. I'm not so hung up on clip position, but the four position configuration doesn't bother me on FRN or G10.

The Police 3 is one of my very favorite knives. I don't know if they used a different OEM for the 3, but the fit and finish is far above the standard Seki FRN knives. And the action is so smooth.

For the purposes of adding to the conversation. I've decided to go ahead with the experiment that I wanted to try. It started with a discussion for a Police model with a 5" blade. I believe there is even a thread started on the concept. It's will still be a ways off, like most new designs, but I thought to share.

There are two Police models with 5" full flat blades. Both will be mid lock-backs. Same blade steel and handle materials (Which has not yet been decided). The difference and the experiment will be that one will have a finger choil and the other will have a handle forward system. Other than that difference, (hole location is slightly different), they will be the same. The plan is to run both versions at the same time and study the responses from our ELU's (End Line Users) when being used.

Sounds cool! MagnaCut and black G-10 (with plenty of texture please) would be my choices. Thank you!
ps, I just ordered a C07BKP - I'm looking forward to it, and the new design too!

Sal,

I'll be buying both versions. Regardless of the cost. I am so thankful that you are considering this idea. Thank you so much. I'm extremely excited to see them revealed!

Once I get them in my hands and I've spent some time with them I promise I'll write up a detailed review comparing the two to the regular Police 4.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

Hmmm... sounds borderline absurd.
I think I need one.
If you're seeking input, I think one of the fancy steels would be most appealing.
