Hi Dominik,
Welcome to the forum. You had better hide your wallet and your credit card because the good people here will encourage you to spend your money. Ha ha ha ha. Just kidding. I hope that you have a good time here in this very civil place.

Re: Tell us about yourself!k
35 years old. I have bin here since 2004.
I have a loving and amazing girlfriend for 10 years now.
My brother who i share my passion for knives with is also on this forum altough he more of a reader then a writer. He is perhaps even more passionate then me on knives and he is way smarter then me in every way aswel. He has always bin there for me no matter how dark the days have bin sometimes with my health struggles i wish i could help him as much as he helps me he really is a treasure of a man.
I also have 2 Spanish resque Greyhounds who i look upon and love as my children. The oldest one is my biggest buddy and he knows it , he even loves to make my Girlfriend jealous. The younger one is the funniest dog i have ever seen the sweeter then sweet and loving wacko as he is.
Now many will know me as a huge fan of Manixes and having a deep love especially for the 1gen Manix lockback models.
Besides those i also collect a bunch of other Spydies and have started to love customizing them for a few years now. As Spydies are the ultimate tool for me but they are somewhat improvable in the scale department.
I live in Europe in a country i dislike as its managed by total idiots.
I am a welder and i love my job deeply.
Besides that i used to love contest fishing still do but do not have time for it anymore the last decade.
I also love cars altough the love is only for combustion engined cars as i think EV’s look and sound like a childs toy and i also dislike automatic gearboxes as Manuals feel alive and bonding with the car. Because of that i am also a huge fan of the Topgear/Grand tour trio who i will miss in the future as they always make me laugh my *** off everytime i watch them on tv.
Guess that is it for now.

Re: Tell us about yourself!
Probably a two decade lurker but finally joining. My life has been tied up around knives since I was probably 6. Collected them, used them, learned about them eventually made some, and generally just like to discuss them with others. Spyderco has long been my favorite brand since I got a tenacious back in 2012 and realized what I had been using (folder wise) just wasn't going to do. Now I have had many paramilitaries delicas Kapara Spydierchef.. and a few more.
I am a Federal grant writer by trade (it's what allows me to buy more Spydercos) but mostly enjoy testing/making Finnish style knives in my free time as well as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Neither hobby of which 99.9% of people I know in real life care much for. That's why I'm here I suppose ..some like minded individuals with steel on their mind.

A person walks into 101 Flavor Matter Separator shop and asks, "Hey, what happened to the other 27 flavors?" The person behind the bar replies, "They did not taste enough like iron for our licking. - ykspydiefan

Hi everyone,
My name is Bobby. I like collecting Shamans, but I do have an assortment of other Spyderco knives. (Mil 2 Salt, Native 5, Spy27 Bodacious, and more) Im looking forward to picking up a Starmate!
I'm active-duty(for now, might switch over) USAF, and I use the OpFocus deal from time to time. I buy Sprint runs from another site. (authorized retailer)
I enjoy spending time at the gun range, playing video games and reading.

And thank you too. Didn't serve myself. I did try to join out of HS with my two best friends, I just didn't qualify because of a health condition.Doc Dan wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 9:57 amThanks for your service.BobbyUSAF wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 3:12 pmHi everyone,

This thread is so nice. Can't believe I've missed it for more than a year !
My name is Robin, I'm a school teacher (3 to 10 years old kids) and a fan of Spyderco for their knife making/designing philosophy. Performance (materials and geometry), ergos, usefulness....
My passion is knife making, I love to work very hard just for my work to "seem" to have been made by a machine, but have the pride to say I made it myself with only a few tools.
I'm also a big comic books fan, i love so many works but lately I've been reading all of Mignola's work again, and am in a Sean Murphy / Rick Remender phase.
Besides that, I've been a nerd for all my life, building computers, playing games and all (Haven't had time to do that in a few years but who counts). My favorite video games are Monster Hunter Freedom on the PSP (900+ hours to solo finish the game), everything FromSoftware and any good action adventure game that can be played solo (The witcher 3, for example).
I'm big into tons of stuffs, I'm sort of a master of none, learning things about as many topics as I can. I am curious about everything.
Example : I know how japanese traditional artisanal tea whiskers are made

Hi, Josh here. I live in Northern Virginia. I like wildlife, birds, landscaping, knives, swords, weapons, fishing, astronomy, and boring nature \ space shows. I pretty much live a mundane life. But I get to enjoy family. And that's about all I can say for now.

Hello, I'm new here. I've been a Cabinet maker/Furniture maker for 48 years. I have a lot of experience sharpening woodworking blades of all types.... not so much knife blades...lol. I look forward to learning the different steels, stones and techniques for sharpening knife blades. And...... I'm a big fan of Spyderco: so many different styles and steels.

It has it's moments...lol. It's served me well over my life. I know a lot of guys/gals do it as a hobby, but it's a job when you do it for a living, like anything else.RustyIron wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 6:45 pmsilver & black wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 5:47 pmHello, I'm new here. Hello all,
Figured I’d introduce myself in this section of the forum.
My name is Yulian, I am a 37 year old automotive technician with a wife and two beautiful children. My hobbies include cars, firearms and my most recent one which is… you guessed it knife collecting lol. Spydercos mainly of course
I look forward to learning more about the different types of steels and hopefully add to my small collection!

My father was a welder/fabricator and I learned enough from him to hold my own but I am definitely no pro or a metallurgist by any means. It’s amazing to me how some people can’t even tell the difference between steel, stainless or aluminum…
I’ve been reading through the edge-u-cation section on Spyderco’s website trying to remember chemistry in high school lol.
It’s pretty amazing how they use so many different elements in these new steels. That’s one of the reasons I joined after a couple weeks of lurking on the forum, seems like a knowledgeable group of folks who are considerate and respectful towards one another.
I’m looking forward to my time here!
