Re: Something new is coming soon.
I'm concerned that it turned out to the the "fat choil" version of the 3 we saw prototype pics of, which was my least favorite of the 3. Hopefully it doesn't waste too much edge to the choil. I also wonder about the compression lock blade drop action on such a small blade, if it'll have enough mass to drop closed without having to over loosen the pivot.

Re: Something new is coming soon.
An eighth of an inch thick? Crikey, you could open paint cans with that thing ... maybe that's the idea ...
Edited to add: Does the comp lock also require a very thick blade to work/be cheap to make? Seems to be the case for liner locks.

0.125 and 3.7mm does not compute. 0.125 inches is 3.175mm.

Thanks Darby, that sounds much more reasonable. Still quite thick for a rather small blade.

Re: Something new is coming soon.
Why so thick? Regular natives aren’t that thick (I don’t own a 5 yet).

Re: Something new is coming soon.
I am looking at that ad and I note there are several mistakes (as already noted) like the 3" S30V blade. What that tells me is that we do not have all of the correct specifications.

If the blade length is 2.47” as advertised I am in. Perfect for bringing them into federal facilities, which have a less than 2.5” blade length limit.
Edit: While having something more substantial than the DF2, my current federal facility knife.

Price just killed it for me. Bummer.
Re: Something new is coming soon.
Thanks to all for the info and updates--this may be the answer that some of us with restrictions have been looking for. Tempted by the pre-order, but I'd like to confirm < 2.5 inches and < 2.5 ounces before committing.
Re: Something new is coming soon.
I also would have liked it cheaper, but it has G10 over stainless liners, so it seems that material and fitment costs just can't be on par with the FRN.Price just killed it for me. Bummer.
I wonder if the slipit and lockback will have unlined solid G10.

Re: Something new is coming soon.
I don't understand why there's a Manix 2 lightweight but not a Paramilitary 2 lightweight. An FRN compression lock would be fantastic.
Re: Something new is coming soon.
A $100 isn't small change (to me anyways), I get it. Although as Attila points out given the materials used the price is appropriate. I'm likely to buy this, although it means another knife on my list will have to be demoted in the que. I predict I will own many versions of this knife in the future so I want to get one of the new ones sooner rather than later so I can give feedback on it for future runs :Dattila wrote:I also would have liked it cheaper, but it has G10 over stainless liners, so it seems that material and fitment costs just can't be on par with the FRN.Price just killed it for me. Yea, I get it. I just don't try to rationalize prices. I don't buy knives I don't feel are worth it to me and this one falls in that category. S30v and g10 aren't expensive, especially considering the size of the knife. It's personal preference obviously, but I can't justify the price for that knife.ZrowsN1s wrote:A $100 isn't small change (to me anyways), I get it. Re: Something new is coming soon.
I'm leaning that way as well, or at the very least it will have to be way better than my Dragonfly. It is about on par with the Dragonfly G10 price though.Wrathhog wrote:Price just killed it for me. Bummer.

Hard to know what are the exact specs - but this seems within 1-2mm of the Cat, more than the chaparral.

Re: Something new is coming soon.
Same for me. Linerless, thinner blade, lower cost and I’d be in, but this is too many compromises for me.Wrathhog wrote:Yea, I get it. I just don't try to rationalize prices.
