Yes, no different than corrosion resistance or toughness. Imagine if tomorrow toughness in steels was argued the same as low stress abrasion resistance. All of a sudden a knife steel was high performance only if and simply because it had a very high impact toughness. Isn't that a really silly viewpoint, of what use is the extreme impact toughness of a 4340 blade on a fillet knife - would it not be better to have a 12C27 blade which has much higher corrosion resistance, a much higher maximum hardness, more wear resistance and while it is no wear near as tough as 4340 it is tough enough for a fillet blade?

Intuitively your arguments make a lot of sense.
To clarify, there is still a fair amount of work to be done before I would even feel comfortable giving that argument even minor credit. At a minimum :

-a lower angle/more coarse finish (10 dps/x-coarse DMT)
-push cutting sharpness comparisons

I am also going to see if I can find a SEM locally because if I could see the apex at the sub-micron detail it would make figuring this out a LOT easier.

Keep it up and maybe someday we will get a FFG zero grind L6 delica. (If I am understanding all this right)
Yeah, and optimized HT for strength.

hmmm this is quite interesting but not to know about its factors. ;)
