LOL!!! Okay bro, we'll work on that...first, the success of this model must warrant such a cause!!! :)

Although I have no idea how the whole designer collaboration thing works, I'm surprised it wasn't FRN, considering how you usually prefer that material...

Yeah, well, let's just say that sal took a HUGE financial risk on my design, so making it out of SS is more, er, practical for now as opposed to investing in a whole new FRN mold and such. However, IF the Lava does well, then maybe one in FRN and H1 would be feasible due to sales... ;) *hint*hint*!!!

God bless ya

PS: Besides, if it was FRN, I don't think SimonG would buy one! :D

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting that FRN mold is real expensive. A similar paradox works in the world of war game miniatures. A mold for metal minatures is much cheaper than a mold for plastic miniatures.

so now we need a price and date :p

Chad, rest assured this design will sell.

I'll be buying at least three. One to stick in the safe, one to carry, and one as backup.

Looks like a good engraving model too, maybe some engraved flames or whatnot ;) Perhaps I'll have it dismantled and fitted with titanium scales, and give it a flame anodizing(though red is tough to do) I'm getting ahead of myself.

An FRN model would be cool down the road sometime, probably around the same time the G-10 Adventura comes out(I haven't forgotten about that one either, I want it)

The two together make one heck of an EDC duo.

Your Lava may actually knock the Dodo out of EDC rotation bro, but only maybe. We'll see what happens when I get one(or six) in my hand.

As for Forum Knife 2006, it's a bit early to be thinking of that, but I have to say, if any knife would be appropriate, it's the Lava, the second knife designed by a forumite(I think, there may have been others).

Chad:

Everyone else has already said so much, so:

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! ! !

I don't usually plan so far ahead for a knife, nor do I normally by duplicates of a variant, but I think this calls for a special purchase. And some for my friends... and some for my family... and some for people I don't know... (How else can I add to the sales... STOCKING STUFFERS!!!) :D :D :D

Again, congratulations and God bless!!!

Nice Knife

Post by Ed Schempp »

I just got back from an intense 5 days at the SHOT Show. I will post more on that topic in that thread.

Chad's Knife was packed with Joyce's marketing display rather than the proto type and concepts case that I manned. Joyce normally has about 45 appointments with writers, publishers, and other media folks. Chads knife was shown to these folks. Spyderco is about the only company that displays their R and D pipeline. I was given a "search and destory" mission for all unauthorized photos; when I started working the prototype case. This is still in effect. This knife is in the publicity realm. I personally had the chance to handle and show the knife upon several requests.

IMO This knife has a nice flowing lines. It is a very high leverage design. The ergonomics are very good for minipulating the knife in use and in change of hand position. I like the negative blade angle, (go figure). I believe the design is very compatible with the blade work done in martial arts particularly modern Philippine craft. Like many biomechanical designs it is best held to be appreciated. Like many good designs the charm should grow the more you use this knife...Take Care...Ed

Chad!

A great looking knife! I love the flowing lines......I guess that's where the name came from. ;) It looks as though it could be used in any grip. :D Other than my collectors I am certainly going to buy some to use.

Congratulations Your hard work has paid off!

Aloha ALL,

My goodness...mahalo everyone.

I do not believe in "coinkidink", but cripes...

Look at my avatar. Lava in the background. I saved the backing of an Xmas gift from my daughter to use as a backdrop to take pics with knives and it is E3 Lava, my "Ant" design that I did not submit to :spyder: , but designed shortly after Sal took an interest in my concept, looks almost exactly like the Lava, I bought a Depeche Mode CD tonight called "Playing The Angel", and there is a track on it titled, "Nothing's Impossible" and two tracks up, a song called, "Precious". (Alex was using this to describe what was it...his CF Mili?) The similarities between Lava and Ed's Persian designs at the choil...whoa...

TrIpPy!!!

I cannot wait to see what C# it is designated as, nor can I wait to see the final specs. ;)

Mahalo Ed, for promoting the Lava when you could, and for explaining some of it's characteristics. ;)

Again, Mahalo Much to my :spyder: Ohana...hopefully, that production sample will arrive soon now that the SHOT is over. :)

God bless and take care everyone...
