Re: 52100 Military, what are your plans?
Oh man.....I thought I might just switch out my satin s90v milllie clip for the 52100 but they are a bit different....would prolly work though i think.
I too would have rather seen a satin clip on the 52100.

I really like this new satin black clip finish. I think it contrasts really well with the grayish tone of the CF.

That's a good point, they did a great job on the finish on the clip.

I had planned to sit this one out with all of the other releases on the way but all the pics convinced me one should be ordered and I happened to check CS during the short window they had them up. I love 52100 in custom kitchen knives, it will be interesting to try it in the Millie platform.

Re: 52100 Military, what are your plans?
Well, you guys having them in person and liking the black satin clip is good enough for me. Ill just leave mine stock.
Re: 52100 Military, what are your plans?
Yes, I think that's the case.MacLaren wrote:So one dealer could get multiple shipments?DougC-3 wrote: ...This slowish release is really pretty typical for Spyderco sprint releases. I think they want to get them in the hands of buyers ASAP and don't want to favor one dealer over another, so they split them up into small batches for several dealers as they get them ready to ship.
That makes sense.
I'd bet they will eventually ship. Around 3 years ago, I bought a Cruwear sprint from Dvor, apparently part of Optics Planet, at a sale price and it took them two and a half months to ship, but it finally arrived. I was surprised that they were apparently a B&M location. At least they answered the phone and kept assuring me that I would get it. They told me I was #7 of 20, and even made sure I got credit for my $10 coupon.Cujobob wrote:I ordered one at Optics Planet because of the 10% off. If they don't fulfill order I won't cry too hard... Hopefully, as I'm on the fence given the blade length of the Millie platform.
I like the new black clip finish better on this knife too.Evil D wrote:I really like this new satin black clip finish. I think it contrasts really well with the grayish tone of the CF.

Anyone else getting the impression that it's a fairly high Rockwell? I touched mine up on the Sharpmaker and it just feels like it's up there.
Re: 52100 Military, what are your plans?
I just got a ship notice from KC, which I was hoping would take a couple of weeks to come through allowing my budget to recover.
Not a bad problem to have

Not a bad problem at all, conga-rats, also interested in when you placed your pre-order. :)wmcbride wrote:I just got a ship notice from KC, which I was hoping would take a couple of weeks to come through allowing my budget to recover.

Definitely got the same impression. It took a lot more to touch up than I expected.WireEdge Roger wrote:Anyone else getting the impression that it's a fairly high Rockwell? I touched mine up on the Sharpmaker and it just feels like it's up there.

Re: 52100 Military, what are your plans?
Ok, same here. I figured it would be a couple passes like most of the carbon steels I've used. Not the case with 52100. That's fine by me, just something I noticed!

So, it would take less to touch up say Cruwear by comparison? Thanx fellas.

Results may vary, but for me Cruwear touched up easier than 52100.
