Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Been with me all day. Working outside in the yard (great for weed whacker line) and taking the dog on an adventure and much more!

No need to be embarrased - the Stretch XL actually has not been around for very long yet, right?

I highly recommend getting one!
But, looking at your "list": The H2 / H1 Pac Salt SE is probably one of the very few models I´d recommend getting first, should you have no experience yet with H2 / H1 (I am assuming there will be not really a perceivable difference) in SE!! These teeth in the strong sabre hollow grind and that steel: Just "the" work-edge for me for harder tasks. Everyone who really uses folders should have one imo.
But then go Stretch XL lightweight straight away!! I´d recommend SE (the serration pattern is great imo), or it could also be a good choice for combo edge (which would also give you the a tad stronger PE tip (V grind, not chisel grind), and the tip IS very fine indeed on this model. Great and very useful for most regular knife tasks, but I feel one has to be a bit careful too with that tip when beating on the knife).
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Luck was indeed involved, so I'm happy it didn't end up worse than it did.
Days are slow atm and knife tasks are few and far apart, but a man's got to eat
Same knife just a couple of days before the accident

Hey "Aicolainen",
I never came around replying to you, after asking how you got your concussion... my apologies for that.

I too think you were "lucky while having bad luck", and am glad too that "it did not end up worse".
I hope you´re feeling better already (do you?) and can start to enjoy the outdoors again (you know I love the part of the world you live in, experienced it myself quite a bit when I was a younger man)
Back when we were talking about your concussion I was still on the island of La Palma and tried to make an "action shot" with my knife in hand for you too, like yours above.
Turned out really bad, but I´ll still post my Stretch 1, pictured while trail running (me, not the Stretch

I'm feeling much better! As my concussion improved and I slowly increased my activity level I've also discovered that my hip and back got a real good beating as well, and my reflexive and probably quite explosive response to counteract the fall seem to have "paid off" with some degree of hernia. All of that is quite trivial compared to a head injury, so I feel lucky to walk a way from this with just fixable problems :)
On Saturday I'm going on my first backpacking trip after the fall. Feels so good to be back in the saddle and making plans again!
