I think the CATRA discussion might be better in it's own thread? Maybe we can get Larrin and Shawn to take part. Both Larrin and Spyderco have CATRA machines. Ours gets a lot of use. I think the CATRA machine is a good test, but like all tests, it is not perfect.

I think I'll also begin a thread bringing Cliff Stamp's theories into play. I think that Vivi's $2 bait knife test exemplifies Cliff's thoughts.

That sounds like a good idea, I didn't really think about how in depth my last reply about it had gotten, maybe it might be better in the, "What is the best steel for retaining high sharpness?" thread.
