Any of these … will do … for me.

Sold my Native 5’s some time ago and have no regrets.

It is a matter of personal preference … get each in hand and you will prefer one over the other.

Must say, pretty cool to see the diversity in preference between the two models. Appreciate seeing some of the posts that went into deep detail. Hard to miss with either, just certain small details can make all the difference.
Agreed, and being a Salt/Delica fan, I need to also try a Native.

I see the OP hasn't been back. Hopefully he will return and join in the fun.

I would take a Delica any day of the week and twice on Sunday over a Native. The Native doesn't fit my hand at all and is not as good of a slicer as the Delica. Out of 3" bladed knives, the Delica is my favorite.

For me Delica over Native, without any hesitation.

- Delica has a thinner, slicier but still way strong enough blade. Actually still pretty stout for such a small folder, and the tip is a bit reenforced anyway

- Delica is a tad lighter despite its sturdy built with liners than the linerless Native... or can basically be had a lot lighter as a linerless Salt.

- Delica offers a bit more cutting edge (and Salt 2 another bit more)

- To me personally the Delica has much better ergos:
Roomy actual handle plus a ricasso to choke up on, while the Narive handle is too short behind the choil for my L to XL hand.
So I pretty much have to choke up on the Native, which feels fine in lighter tasks, but in harder cutting the Native tends to get "unstable" in my particular hand with finger in choil

- Delica is a better, thinner carry imo.

- Now my "plusses" for the Native 5:

+ Perhaps coolest looking Spydie ever;)
+ Amazing, extremely well executed backlock
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Maybe the Native Chief LW will do it for you. I'm looking forward to one myself.

Yes, I am very much looking forward to it too!
For me it will be the BD1N SE version.

Imho the Chief has a size where a choil really can make sense again.

Had the St Nicks Chief for a short while: Great knife, but still taught me again that I am just not a G10 guy when I can have FRN and go for even lighter weight if possible.

I wish the Delica got the cool sprints and exclusives that the Native does. K390 is a solid option, though. Still, I'd like to see a delica 15v or rex45

Been away from this for a while… but,

Delica was offered as a sprint in HAP40 which I believe to be equivalent parallel with rex45.

Was done in burnt orange …. Wharncliffe and PE.

AGREE, BRING ON THE COOL DELICAS.!! :smiling-halo

I had an older Native with Barrel Nut Clip, it was good knife, but I misplaced it.

Seems like Delica 4 has had a good run lately when it comes to steel options.

Both have their advantages. I prefer the more secure feeling lock, ergos and lack of thumb ramp on the native, but the delica has thinner stock so it's slicier, has a tiny bit more edge and a tiny bit less weight. I like both, but I prefer the native.

Several people have said they find the delica better in the pocket and I can understand where they're coming from, but I prefer the native (at least the lightweight) there too. It has a taller handle, but the delica has that big bump from the thumb ramp and the gimping drags and gets caught when I remove it from my pocket. Probably wouldn't be a problem if I pulled the knife straight up when I removed it, but I naturally pull slightly back when pull my knife. Ymmv.

....

Though I clearly prefer the Delica, I agree on lock and no ramp being better on the Native.

As for the weight:
If one is concerned with really light weight, the Native already IS linerless, but if one gets the "linerless Delica" (= Salt 2, which also offers a bit more cutting edge) this is a lot lighter still percentage - wise.

I have both, but I don’t hesitate to say Native. To me it has a better design.

I prefer the native5 but the delica feels more nimble in my hand. A very different feel between the two. Quit messing around and get both! Lol
