Yeah I have to agree with you on that one It's always amazed me that the C-54 Calypso never really gained the fanfare that most of the other Calypso models attained because to me it's the grandfather of the entire Calypso line up and it was another one of Spyderco's early designs that was perfect from the get-go.Mako109 wrote:C54 Calypso. Always hoping for a sprint with CF scales and any premium stainless.
The only thing I would change other than the suggested Carbon Fiber handle would be to use some other blade steel. If Spyderco is going to explore the possibility of using one of the supersteels from Japan then the C-54 model would be an excellent choice for it's debut IMO.
Re: What is your favorite Spyderco that you do not own
For me it's the Temperance 2. I've bought and sold three of them. I absolutely love this blade, but I could never find a good enough reason to go thump on it. So it sat in the box until I sold them all. . Now I don't own one.

Two categories: PRE- and POST-enthusiasm for Spydercos
PRE (aftermarket price discourages want):
original Manix (C95)
"mini" Manix2 (C101 80mm)
original Starmate
Superhawk (love my Superleaf)
POST (price/feature disqualifies):
Military (Police4 may scratch itch)
Slysz Bowie (love my two other Slysz models)
EDIT: Couldn't help myself. Got the original Manix. Worth every penny.

Nirvana and Southard. Just not worth the price of admission, to ME.
Re: What is your favorite Spyderco that you do not own
Nirvana. Just can't justify the price when I can get 3-5 other spydies

I'm going to add another model that I highly envy mainly because it reminds me so much of my hallowed, beloved C-60 Ayoob model. I'm speaking of the Szabo folder. I've always had a ton of respect for Laci Szabo and his witty creations. I'm wondering what him and Mr. Massad Ayoob could design as a team

S90V / 154CM PM2. A buddy of mine has one sitting in his closet and carries a cricket...what a waste.

For me, it's probably the Slysz Bowie. There's just something about that knife that attracts me.
Re: What is your favorite Spyderco that you do not own
From all that are outside my price range I'd say the Techno is one that I'd really like to carry.
