Oh man loving these suggestions. Special Cobalt or SG2 gets my vote now. I for one like stainless steels (of course nothing is completely stainless) as I use the Delica for whatever is required to be cut during the day. I also just clean it by running it under the faucet with a little dishsoap and then its back in the pocket!

Are we talking Japanese Spydercos? I am good with any steel in the Delica and Endura line. I have to say I really like Super Blue (I missed out on the HAP40). But, something different would float my boat. How about the SG2?

HAP 72 has be very intrigued, however any non stainless tool steel will pique my interest as that's more what I've been gravitating to as far as my knife preferences go, especially for knives I carry at work. I'd also love to see anything in one of the Shirogami White steels, and given the popularity of SuperBlue, the White Steels would probably also be winners. Any of the FRN knives would be my preference, but I wouldn't say no to any new steel in any model. The Caly series might also be a good candidate, especially for something like the Shirogami White (Please do a fish scale FRN Caly Jr. again), but I'd sooner see a tool steel go to the regular FRN family.

My vote is SG2, sounds very interesting and I'd definitely be down for a sprint using it.

Hi Sal. I'm no expert on steel, but I do recognize a good one when it comes into my possession. I think VG-10 (as in my Stretch, Superleaf, and Tatanka) and SuperBlue (as in my Caly 3.5) are grand in their own way.

I trust any steel you are likely to tempt us with will be the next best thing, but, for me, cladding (as in my SB Stretch) will stop me from buying it.

Whichever steel is chosen please offer it in the Delica with a thinner ground blade than standard just like the HAP40 Delica. I like the other HAP40 sprints and own a Dragonfly and Stretch model but the Delica HAP40 is my favorite due to the thinner blade grind. So my vote is for a steel that has the appropriate properties to support the thinner ground blade. Would also love it if you decided to do a thinner blade grind on additional models, especially the Stretch.

Sal,

A few things:

1. Please see if the next run of E4 and D4 in a new steel can NOT be clad. Really hoped HAP40 was going to be solid slab

2. I think if you concentrated on E4, D4, Stretch, and Dfly you would be fine. Manbug and Ladybug do little for me in sprint steel and they sit at my B&M for a while.

3. Caly 3.5 in a new steel would be epic

4. I will buy as many E4 and D4 steel sprints as you make

Totally disagree with a thinner D4, but that is just my opinion. I would appreciate thicker in all honesty

I would also like to suggest the Chokwe in SuperBlue or a Spyderco Kitchen knife in SuperBlue.

I really think there should be another run of the popular Delica HAP 40 that sold out the fastest. Of course, if the Delica wharnie sells well, it should get a special treatment/sprint.
- best wishes, Jazz.

Why is that? Just curious.

And more on topic, when asking about which models for these Japanese steels, do they need to be Japanese made models from now or the past? Or any model?

Pulled out the Super Blue Endura for food prep on taco night. It diced and sliced beautifully, started to develop a nice new patina, retained its sharpness well, and touched up quickly on the Sharpmaker.

Another Sprint of Super Blue wouldn't be bad I suppose. Lots of people mentioning it so far this thread.

That Wharnie Delica sounds like an awesome candidate, but I'm weird like that. But more seriously, the Stretch 2 G10 with solid Super Blue might be a winner.

I just feel like I require more out of an EDC than a paring knife and I already like Native>D4 FFG because it is thicker but still slices fine. Any thinner of a grind and you have a tomato knife IMO, I mean what is everyone slicing to need thinner??
