I agree with ya buddy. I had been eyeballin' that Contego for a while. And really only it, out of all the BM's.
I discovered it on KW's exclusive page. And after reading BM members comments on BF, I feel pretty good
about my choice. Those guys were saying it is one of the best BM' s ever made and some say it is the best.
They talked about what time BM took with this knife, how well the detailing of the G10, blade and everything
was. (I imagine this would exclude Gold Class).
Just to clean my conscience I also at one time almost pulled the trigger on their RUKUS model>> but all they had it in was S30V which is not one of my favorite steels unfortunately. I do have a lot of respect for Benchmade because they are quality oriented similar to but not as good as the Great Spyder Factory IMO.

There are a few other companies that I also have respect for but most commericial knife companys only care about profit. And you'll see their goods at Rip-Mart most of the time which is why I've forsaken many of those brands that I grew up with as a kid into adulthood (actually I'm still a kid in many ways :D ).

It's incredible to me how many people will compromise quality to get on the bargain bandwagon and end up with landfill destined crap for the most part  . That's not what our great country used to be about. But people are lured with cheap items unfortunately and end up getting what they pay for.

But if you're going to Sin against the Great Spyder FActory at least sin with something worth sinning for  :D .
Long Live the SPYDEREDGE Spyderco Hawkbills RULE!!

I must say, its the smoothest action Ive ever felt on a knife. Im liking it a lot. A keeper for sure.

I agree. I really do. Ya know, this BM is a keeper. I would like in all honesty to try a ZT next. But, Ill say again, the Spyderco knives I have are just a cut above from any knife Ive ever owned.

Don't feel bad, I'm sure there are a lot of closet BM users here. I own 1, a 940, it's one of my favorites but it's been pushed out of my pocket by the Delica. I've been tempted by a couple of other models over the years but never pulled the trigger. The CF 940 is a grail but I really don't want to spend the money on one if I'll just carry a Spydie instead.
