I have a ZDP Manbug on a 4" lanyard. I carry it in my pocket and hang the lanyard outside. Doesn't get hidden in cash, and change etc. I am surprised at what I can do with this knife. Other than that, a Dragonfly would be great.

Far and away my favorite small knife is a CF Balance. Probably hard to find today. Maybe a SS version? Haven't tried one but if it's anything like the CF version, it's a winner.

My cat is very well put together! Fit and finish is excellent and good old 440c has been and always will be an excellent blade steel.

I'd go with a serrated ladybug salt. It will stay sharp for a long time and then continue to cut when it's dull because of the serrations. It can disappear into a change pocket or shirt pocket and hold up well to the washing machine when he forgets to take it out.
The Cat is more substantial for a similar price but it's not that much smaller than a Delica and more likely to get voted out of pocket because it's too big and not being used enough.
I hope you let us know what you choose if you do go with a pocket knife.

I gave a kid on my team a Ladybug last year. He was always asking me about my knives but couldn't afford one. I got him the Ladybug to test the waters. I told him to put it on his keys and bring it to me when it needed sharpened. Turned out he used it all the time and really liked it. He eventually got a job as an armed guard for a armored truck company and wanted something bigger so I brought him my whole collection to handle and he fell in love with my ZDP Delica so he carries that now.

Just in case anyone cares, I just ordered a Ladybug with a stainless handle for my brother for Christmas. I was basically torn between the Ladybug or Dragonfly models, both of which have a stainless handle. If it was for me, I would much prefer a FRN or G-10 handle, but I think he will associate the stainless handle with higher quality. Plus I plan on getting the handle engraved with something like "Merry Christmas 2013" or something dumb like that. I'll post pictures when I get it done and see what ya'll think.

If I get it and I decide the Ladybug seems too small, then back it will go and the SS Dragonfly will be gotten.
