Success! I finally got her to sit down and try my Dragonfly. She was able to unlock the blade safely. I am going to get her an H1 model because she will not have to take as good of care of it. I am also ordering a Pink Squeak, too. (I am looking hard at the Meerkat but want to find one I can try out.) Thanks for all the help, everyone.

Might seem an odd recommendation, but if you can find one; a Spyderco Co-pilot.

A dragonfly is a great choice. If she really enjoys that, she may enjoy moving up to a Caly 3. My lady started with a dragonfly, and ended up "trading it" for my Caly 3, meaning she just stole my Caly 3 and left the dragonfly on my nightstand.

Where can you get those? I found one dealer that has them in stock.

My vote also for the dragonfly also. I got mine a Dragonfly Tattoo. She absolutely loves it, but then again, she loves dragonflys (the actual bug). Maybe a Ladybug tattoo would be just the thing for her also.

Amazon also carries the pink dragonflys.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

My fiancee has issues with the grippy/gritty feel of G10 handles so I acquired a grey UKPK in hopes she would like it, and she thinks it's great! I got a serrated model - people are are not super into pocketknives don't use them so much for food prep as they are used to kitchen knives, and the serrations remain sharp after a great deal of use, so the user tends to be happy about not having to sharpen it. That would be my pick, not because of the lack of lock, NKP-friendliness or even appearance, but because the still grippy FRN feels easier on sensitive or software hands, the ergos are excellent (and that detent is stiff enough to stay closed in a purse or pocket under most conditions), and the SE blade will not fail under the worst of conditions.
