Your points are taken Cliff :) For some folks with those needs a car door test is valid. For others it lacks significance.

It is very much knife dependent, there was a time when it was very popular, it isn't so much now simply because of the numerous times that people have demonstrated that it doesn't take very much of a knife to do it without concerns. Note that Cold Steel does a lot of static/numerical tests as well such as checking the raw strength of their knives locks with dead weight hangs and they do a lot of YT video's, especially through Demco's channel and you can interact with him there and talk about the results directly. But the video's that they do on the main channel are mainly sensational, similar to the Ginsu type commercials.

I vaguely remember breaking pine boards in front of an audience. About 13 at the time. Yay for sensationalism. :rolleyes:
