Blades, sorry it took me forever to respond.

Here is a picture of 3 of mine with the one in the center being my own sheath. The factory ones are great, but they are bulky. Mine is not as nice cosmetically, but holds great and sure is a lot smaller. I like both styles for their differences.

Thanks, but even being the craftsman, I wouldn't say better.

It's perfectly adequate for my uses and substantially smaller, but better is a matter of opinion and intended use. Where it does shine is horizontal cross-draw (like in the picture) or IWB.

The factory sheaths are perfect for security, safety and retention. They do everything that is needed and do so with better cosmetics. They are really handy for lashing to a pack strap or backpack with the pancake style and holes down each side.

Everyone ought to try one of the Morans. They may not fall in love and buy one, but I really believe they'll be better for the experience.

Cross-draw or in the waistband is how I like to carry my Moran. The original leather sheath is what I prefer, and I think it is a great way to carry the Moran. If you get tired of your sheath, you can send it my way. :)

Luckily they're still available, so you can get another one if you need to scratch that itch.

However, if you want one of the early ones with the leather sheath, you'll definitely have to do some looking. They're scarce, but worth it. I love mine and just can't get over the mirror finish on the blade and the mirror-finished convex edge. Any Moran is nice, but the early ones are incredible.

Congratulations!

I hope you like it as much as I like mine. It's an absolutely fantastic slicer! With it I can make paper-thin shavings from pine or cedar for fire-starting.

There was a Moran with the original leather sheath that went for about $55 on eBay last week. I was watching it, but really didn't need a seventh one. Besides, as much as I like the sheath, I'll never carry it like that. Kydex is just too practical. I figured I'd leave it for someone else.

Did one of you guys snag it? If so, post a picture. It looked nice on my phone...
