You really have to use one to see. I was a skeptic and got a Cento 4. It sat around til one day, then I was hooked. They're good for everything but maybe skinning and use on a cutting board, and even that's not so bad if you've used a knife on a cutting board before. For self defense, if the need arose, they're a great design - just ask Mr. Janich. A few of us have modified other blades into wharncliffes because we love them. I hope this helps, but you should really get one.

- best wishes, Jazz.
thanks man!, just what I need, another reason to buy a knife :p
I'll give one a shot if I find one that "does it" for me. - Take care -DC
Another platform that could be interesting for this discussion is the PM2. There's a lot of room between the edge and the barrel of the lanyard hole. It seems like perhaps the edge could be dropped down into a semi-wharncliffe.
I certainly like the idea of a super-wharn too. Maybe leaving just a bit of belly would give it broader appeal, but I'd most likely buy one either as a full wharn or a semi.
This thread renewed my interest in the SuperLeaf so I broke mine out, and it really is an excellent knife. Never understood why it doesn't get more "press" ...
So I played with it a bit, sustained a pretty good Spyder-bite on the back of a finger (closing it), and have decided to EDC my SuperLeaf for a while ...

I think you nailed it...I guess we'll be looking at a Superhunter with a fat belly and a nice upswept blade now :)

The only thing it doesn't have is the hook at the end of the scale and VG-10.
For everyone wanting a Super Wharncliffe, I think you should give the Yo 2 a try.

I'm pretty sure this knife has been answered with the Yojimbo 2, it even has the same lock. It would be pretty similar knife but with a 50/50 choil and different handle.
