With the clip off, however, there is still an affirmative metal:metal stop on mine. I can't tell whether they're all this way, but if others have different results after taking off the clip I'll post a video that will show what this one's doing.
Well Hot ****!!! Your right, Just took my clip off and saw that bit of metal...
*ahem* :D :) That is what I said  - brilliant. More simple, more esthetic, probably less costly - just plain totally cool. Honestly, I am full of admiration for whoever thought of that, and we know that (this being Spyderco) if they had copied it from somewhere, they would have given credit for the idea. Great stuff!!! :spyder:
So I just got home and opened mine. First impression is  :D . I have to say I wasn't expecting to like this. I ordered it thinking, if I don't do it know and decide I want one later, my wallet is going to be pissed.
I have never owned a Military before. When I first started getting into knives, I was on a quest for the toughest folder in the world (probably not unlike some other newbs) and my quest led me to the Manix, the AFCK and then ultimately the XM-18.
The first one I got was a D2 AFCK and I kept it for about a week. It was just too big for me to carry and when performing menial tasks such as cutting boxes, I felt like I was using a nuke to clear an ant farm out of my backyard.
I have also owned two Original Manix' and 3 XM-18s (2 S30V, 1 XHP), all of which are gone. Sold the Manix mostly b/c it was also too big but partly b/c my car needed some attention and I didn't want to pay out of pocket for it (I regret this and will get another one, favorite knife ever). Sold the XM-18s b/c after thinking they were going to be my grail, I just couldn't seem to justify carrying something that if it fell out of my pocket was going to cost me $600 to replace. I also felt while although it is the most well made folder I have ever held and tough as nails, it didn't seem like a very good slicer, so I thought what's the point?
This brings me back to the M4 Military. This knife is huge, and it looks huge in pics, and it never really appealed to me. It's bigger than the AFCK and I knew I would never carry or use anything that big. I also tend you shy away from extremely long handles. Bottom line is, after getting a Bradley and XHP Manix 2 in the mail yesterday and playing with them all day, I thought there was no way I was going to love the Military.
I was wrong. This knife feels amazing. Handle is so comfortable and when I'm holding it, I really don't realize how large it is. VERY ergonomic. Also it looks awesome, way better in person than the pics. I was fully thinking I was going to sell this b/c I'm almost positive I would make enough profit that my Manix and Bradley would be free (only way to keep the GF happy), but I think after holding it for all of 5 min, one of my other hobbies is going to have to suffer and I will sell off something else to try to pay for the 3 knives.

I know Lionsteel where the first ones to add they steel to the lockbar face, and Chris Reeves replaced the titanium lockface with the Ceramic Ball on the Umnummzan.
And many companys have systems to stop overtravel. Hinderer lockstop, Spyderco lockstop as on the ATR, Lionsteel has its own as well, I also have two of my own systems for preventing overtravel. But Putting the two together into one function is awesome!

Gonna have to dig out my Ti ATR to see that. I never noticed it...but I never used or carried it, either. This one, I think, is a user for sure.
