Then there's the road warrior, my daily carry. It's a little short since it took a trip through a snowblower last winter.

One more PE and the first gens are done.







Oddly enough, even though everything says the first generation was hollow ground, all five of these look like this:



Zoom in all you want, I can't see any gap between the ruler and the bevel. But the next generation is another story.



Even my old eyes can see that one is hollow grind.



As you can see, the handle is chamfered and the lock release has been moved back.



The swedge now fits entirely within the handle.

I had to ditch the black bandana for this next one. Although I don't have the box and paperwork, my research leads me to believe this is a factory all-black model rather than an aftermarket job.









It just didn't look right laying on that bandana.

Next up is a PE uncoated aluminum with no steel mark and POLICE MODEL on the blade.







Followed by a serrated uncoated aluminum with G-2 steel mark, but nothing else on the blade.

Then we have a steel handle, G-2 steel mark and POLICE on the blade. It is also the first appearance I have of the lanyard hole that comes and goes.









Next is my oldest Tufram coated aluminum. Domed pins, no lanyard hole, G-2 steel mark and POLICE on the blade.

Then we have a PE Tufram aluminum, G-2 steel stamp, POLICE on the blade, domed pins...and the lanyard hole is back.









Followed by another serrated Tufram with lanyard hole, but this one carries the GIN-1 steel mark.

Of course you know what happens next. The lanyard hole shows up again.









Then things get interesting. The first G-10 model. Up until this point, all of the Gen 2 blades have been hollow ground and had chamfered Spyderholes. This one returns to flat saber grind and has a square edge hole, still in GIN-1.

The PE version still has a little chamfer on the hole, but still much less than went before.











I had thought the first G-10 was a one run model, but here it is in ATS-55.

Just to complete the set, PE in ATS-55.











Then Sal snuck in a ringer on us - Serrated ATS-34 with a titanium handle, with a hollow grind and chamfered hole. My faded memory of the "Through the Years" timeline says it came after the first G-10, but maybe it was before.

He hadn't given up on G-10 yet. PE, G-10, ATS-55, no liners and straight clip.











One of my very few exact duplicates. SE, G-10, ATS-55 steel, single liner and straight clip.

Then, just to keep us guessing, a switch to a curved C clip.









I haven't convinced myself to spring for the serrated version yet. It is out there, but not in my price range yet.

They've made left-handed versions of the Police since the beginning, but this is my only example. ATS-55, serrated, hollow grind, right and left versions.

Then there was the Carbon Fiber, with VG-10 and the Boye Dent. Single liner with C clip.











This one was actually my first Police model. Plain edge, hollow grind, VG-10 with Bug and etched POLICE.

The P3 was another total redesign. You may notice mine lacks the hump on the spine at the tip, something it has in common with most of my other Spyderco knives. I think my record for leaving it there is about a week, then it's off to the belt sander.







I went a step farther with one of my P4s, adding a swedge to the tip.

The other P4 did get the tip reground, but was spared the swedge.









And then we have the newest member, the P4 lightweight.

Of course, we also need to show the latest version of the P2, with 4 way clip.







And we can't fail to mention the wee ones. Tie clip and necklace, functional locks and sharp blades. Not just jewelry.
