I think somthing that should be added to this forum is user titles. Instead of everybody being registered users and banned members being Junior members, there should be post counts, in which when you reach a certain number of posts your user title will change, Maybe somthing like spydie addict, or veteran, things like that seem like a good idea to me.

just an idea.

That just leads to post whoring. Most forums I visit that have a system of rank, the admins give out rank based on the amount of information you provide and what you contribute. You could have 20 posts and be a senior member.

Aloha skcusloa,

I agree with this. Being that we all have no paricular rank or title, we are basically equal. Also, a post count is fine, and the "regulars" know who is who here...no need for a rank system based on thread/post amounts.

Let's just keep things simple here. Just *my* take on this...

God bless and how is your DW Caly' Jr? ;)

As so many forum members asked you to keep him, I guess he should be considered as official forum cat and youngest member.

Congrats to the Forum on this new membership level achievement! So there's at least 3999 other Spyderholics out there who dig Spyderco enough to become members of the official Forum! Isn't it nice to not be alone? :D

Welcome to the forums, Ohio!

4000, not a bad number for such a small forum. Even if you count all the spammers :D .

I think custom 'ranks' would be nice. So new people can see which people are the ones with 'authority' about what they're talking about.
For example, The Deacon could be called 'Walking Spyder Encyclopedia', sal 'Big Boss', etc.

I agree, it sounds like a cool idea, but to be perfectly honest, it just increases post counts unnecessarily, like you said.

I mean seriously, go through my previous posts, and you'll inevitably find of bunch of random posts that contribute nothing, other than just being sociable.

There's probably about fifty "Happy Birthday" posts alone ;)

Ranks are unnecessary in my opinion, especially ones based on post count. I have a pretty high post count, but does that mean I'm informative and useful? Heck no ;) I just wander around the forums and talking about Guntings whenever the oppurtunity arises. So why should I be a "Senior member" when I contribute nothing constructive to the forums?

Those who are regulars here are well aware of who the big contributors to the forum are, and the contest a few months/weeks? back was proof of just that.

I went back and tried to find out, but everyone "registered" on 9/24/04. So I don't know how long everyone was here before that.

I can tell you with absolute certainty, that it is not me :D

I'm still a rookie(who talks a lot)

Clay Kesting still pokes his head in here occassionally.... Seems like I've been here forever... user #584 (click on member list, hover over a name and look at the info bar at the bottom of your screen, user # is the last few digits)

if you want to see someone's first post, search by user name, oldest post. Some of us kind of run out of pages to view on, so they hide our middle 3K posts. Can see the first or last few pages. I've been here posting since 02-04-01... been reading since late 00, been carrying since late 99.

WAY back on the old forum Samo hit 3K posts and started fresh... I had started a 2nd account at 3K posts and was starting to use it when someone made a comment about outliving usefulness at 3K. So now I'm seeing how high this counter gets :p

I was in 2nd until about 3months ago when Alex passed me. Busy with school. Chad is coming up quick to work on passing me, but he cheats, replying 5-6 times in a row rather than 1 long reply post.

You want fun?
