Hannibal,
Good to hear there appear to be no lasting effects from the stroke.
The other things are probably related and may be caused by prolonged hypertension. Appropriate medication might solve this.
Personality change can happen but if you put me in a hospital I will be a bit nasty and irritable too.
Sorry to hear about your brother in times like this.
Take care.

Better News...
Good day, all.
I wanted to briefly resurrect this thread long enough to accomplish two tasks.
First, I want to extend my deepest appreciation to you all for your kind thoughts and prayers during a very difficult time.
Second, I wanted to update you on progress such that it is. My mother is cranky and irritable, which in my estimation is indicative of being well on the road to recovery. :D Seriously, there has been no paralysis, no speech change and minimal memory loss for a stroke. She is a bit slower to respond sometimes, but that is largely due to her taking time to think things over a bit. She is also very conscious of her altered mental state and is cautious to think her answers through in conversation lest she lose her place in the thought. She is also physically weak due primarily to almost a week in the hospital sans cigarettes (she has smoked since birth), a decent meal or a good night's sleep.
My sincerest thanks to those who have inquired after her recovery.

Respectfully yours,
Dr. Hannibal Lecter, M.D.

Thanks for keeping us abreast of things Hannibal. I've been praying for you and your mother, and was meaning to write you to inquire.
God Bless

First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.
