The C-44 is stil champ

#41

Post by JD Spydo »

A lot of water has indeed went under the bridge since this 2005 thread was on the front page. And so have models available and my priorities for everyday cutting.

I still maintain that the C-44 big Dyad is probably Spyderco's most useful and practical folder on the market today. In that arena nothing has changed.

When it comes to Hawkbills I rarely carry either one of my Dodo models any longer but I do carry and use 2 of my Spyderhawks on occasion with my G-10 Harpy getting the vast majority of usage.

And in the fixed blade category I still use my fixed blade Temperance a lot during the day>> especially here of late. I still want that model to be resurrected in the H-1 Salt Series.

This thread is still very timely and it's interesting to see how models and people's preferences have changed in some areas but remained the same in others.
Long Live the SPYDEREDGE Spyderco Hawkbills RULE!!

In the office it was the Caly 3 CF for a long time, but I switched to the Junior once I bought that. At home, it's either by Military SE when I'm working in the yard or the Junior.
The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

Caly3 - still the handiest for me. Currently experimenting with the Dialex however.

Delica w/ Wave

Post by WxGuyGrant »

My job tends to involve a lot of taping of boxes and cutting them open, so my Delica4 with Emerson Opener is an awesome companion. Cuts anything I need it to, even part of a conveyor belt that came loose and was in danger of making for a very bad night at work.

Interesting resurrection. Seems my two most used models have remained the same, although the Stretch in those photos has been replaced by an even more customized one and the SS Kiwi got pimped, semi-retired, and replaced as my "desk knife" by a smooth red bone one I attempted to jig myself.

A Breeden Rescue for me.
I have over 50 spydies, and I keep coming back to this blade.
When I am out, I keep a Police G-10 on me somewhere, but the Breeden gets all the slice, dice, scrap, and whittle jobs.
I re-profiled it to a 11 degree inclusive edge and it's sharp. Holds very well. Better than some other VG-10 blades I have. Don't know why.
I have three Enduras, four Delicas, the 4 Economy line (tenacious, etc), 2 Lums (I do use the Titanium Lum a lot), Para 1, SuperHawk, Stretch (2nd favorite edc), Cento 3, Caly 3 ZDP, Native, Military, 2 Dragonflys (1 Salt), 3 Ladybugs (1 Salt), Manix 2, Squeak, Pride, UK in CPM-30V, UK in Gin1, Urban Wharncliff, micro DYAD, Chicago, Cricket, Spin, Remote Release, Snapit, Kopa, Rookie, Embassy in grey, 83mm Citadel, Rock Lobster, the 3 "bug" micro SS slipits, and 5 Byrd models.
And I carry the Rescue, and a Police.
But, that's me, LOL.
