Long time lurker and Spyderco fan. Joined up just for this one. Been looking for a Native to add to the collection, and I think I've found it.

Welcome to the forum. You already have a respectable list in your collection.

Thanks! It's a nice little collection that I add to here and there, and I also have a beat up black blade tenacious. Looks like your collection is very nice.

I'm hoping to add this Native (was just waiting for the right Native to come out) and the blue nishjin Stretch to my collection this year. So I dabble.

Are there specific requirements the forum members have to meet in order to qualify for purchasing these? Specifically, like minimum number of posts? I've not posted that many times but I've been around here for quite while as a guest and then a user. I'm just not as knowledgable as some of the experts on here so I value your opinions more than mine. I'd just hate to miss out on this because of a technicality... Thanks.

I hope there are no requirements. I do post some on spyderco's bladeforums group but Ive only been a lurker here. I finally signed up for a chance at this knife. It looks amazing. I do kinda wish it had a wire clip though.

No, there are no requirements, not even a requirement to be a member of this forum, since Spyderco recognizes that there are many people who "lurk" and learn without joining.

is this the first time spyderco has released anything in this steel?

I thought I was done buying spyderco knives for good after getting the m4 Millie, but the native has a soft spot as it was my first, and this steel should be legendary.

I just hope Spyderco makes some arrangement to allow forumites in New York to purchase these.

You already signed up, otherwise you would not be able to post.

The only actual requirement to purchase the forum knife is to keep an eye on the forum for the release announcement.

So I actually dreamed about this knife last night. I dreamed it was released and somehow I got it before everyone else. It didn't come with the diamond pattern on the scales and I think had a different steel and I was really let down but really excited at the same time. I kept waking up and going right back into the same dream. I'm pretty sure it happened because I spent about an hour before bed looking over comparison pics of the Native 5 and other knives because I haven't handled one yet.

I meant I finally signed up for a forum id so I could post instead of just lurking. As The Deacon said, thats how you become eligible to purchase the knife when it's available. I dont think there is an actual list for the knife or anything if that's what you're wondering.

Sorry if it's a little off-topic for this particular thread but rather than create a new one I wanted to ask if there were any photos or video available yet for the upcoming Native 5 Carbon Fiber model that's expected?
