Great pics everyone! I just retired so I'm hoping to actually get fishing soon. It's been off and on for a long time.
Congrats, Barry! :party-face

Perfect time to get back to it. 🎣

Took a local seventeen year old out (of saint marks, fla) the other day...
He caught his first cobia, first gag grouper, and personal best flounder...

Those were all commercial fish and the commercial quota just happened to be closing that day. There were a lot of commercial fisherman out that day trying to get their last catches in until October. I still haven’t seen any recreationally caught tuna this year.

———

Stopped by the canal today to make some casts and caught a decent size Bluefish. I’m guessing somewhere around 18” or so. Bluefish have been all over the place this year, especially the little snapper blues. Some days I see them going crazy on schools of bait.

Image

This one decided to give me his lunch too. Spit up a few sand eels when I landed it.

I want to catch a big fat fish and use a Salt knife to butcher it and make grilled fish sandwiches.

Quick fishing report from last Saturday -

Saw some heavy bird activity and knew they were following bait. I knew there would be fish behind them too and sure enough, the schoolies were right there. Caught four in about 30 minutes and then the fish disappeared with the bait.

Stripers/Hybrids/Whites, any fish with lines seem to fight so hard which is a good thing 🎣 😉

Nice catches! Are those Acadian Redfish and Tilefish? I'm not immediately familiar with that fish with the yellow spots.

Army buddy has a pond in his back yard with rod holders shoved into the ground. Had just set my rod in one & grabbed my beer when I saw the bobber move. Since I can't use my left arm/hand I had to improvise. Nothing spectacular, but it makes for a fun time being able to throw a cooler in his golf cart & head down for some catch & release fun.

Was working out at the very tip of Cape Cod today with nearly perfect weather. Felt like a late summer day with temps in the mid to high 70s… it was too tempting to not make any casts.

Image

Was only able to fish for about 30 minutes but was still able to land a couple Windowpane Flounder.
