Probably.

The Spyderco Mid Year Supplement is usually released in late May.

2.5 mm blade thickness on the packer... Thank you thank you thank you!

I think I just found my new fixed blade for whitetail hunting.

The Sustain make me want to start a second career in Black Ops. All the fixed blades ITT are legit, though. The Jumpmaster would make a great camping/gardening knife, the Packer an outdoorsman's EDC, and of course the Rock Salt is a terrific Zombie Apocalypse knife.

I'm probably going to have to wait to see the PM3 before I can decide whether to get that or the Ouroboros. I'm running out of places to hide the knife collection from the missus.

Love the sustain! Beautiful design! I got to see the Packer last year in Gayle's shop and it's a very cool design. The spyderchef was one of my most longed after. Honestly, I was hoping the blade would be about an inch longer. Let's buy lots of them and maybe they will make us a Spyderchef XL one day! :D

SpyderChef has an intriguing LC200N rust-resistant steel but I agree that a 3.3" blade for most kitchen tasks is too small.

I also agree. I somehow thought it would be about 5 inches. Still, I like the design and the new steel. Maybe it should be renamed the Spydersouschef to hint that a scaled up XL version is in the works?

I keep wondering why Spyderco decided on a 3.3" blade for the Chef....I really thought it was going to be 4.25" blade. I really don't think I'll be getting a Chef.
And really that's not a bad thing I keep telling myself - or my wallet keeps telling me lol...

The Deacon wrote:Yes, the Wichard clip is a separate piece. In fact, at one time, you could buy one attached to a leather fob with a key ring from the folks who make the Snap-It for Spyderco (G Sakai). IIRC, it was called a Fook.
Didn't know that, thanks Deacon for this piece of info.

And I also agree, so that makes it, well, a bunch of us. I'll be getting one, most likely (I need me some LC200N) but I actually lol'd at the SousChef idea, soo funny :)

Yes, it feels like that might have been the philosophy behind this one. To provide folks with an edc sized blade that could function cutting food. I was kind of imagining more of a folding kitchen knife that could be used on the go, camping or even in the kitchen and was hoping for something in the 4.5" range. Once I learned what the steel choice was I was actually planning to buy two. One for the kitchen and one to regrind into a folding fillet knife. As it stands, I'm sure it will make a lot of folks happy but I might have to wait and hope for the XL version. Hope you're listening Spyderco and Mr. Slysz! :)

It makes sense to me that the Chef be EDC sized. I imagine the potential market is bigger. Personally I have no interest in a folder that excels when used on a cutting board.

Previous pics of the SpydieChef (then SpydeChef) gave me the impression of a 4"+ blade, and set up expectations accordingly. Was definitely planning on nabbing that, but now I'm really excited about the more EDC friendly size.
