But, I guess, according to some of you, I have not contributed enough to have the opportunity of owning one of the forum knives. Interesting, and kinda sad.
Sad? Really? Spyderco personnel read this forum and contribute to it. Sal sees the forum knife as a "thank you" for the benefit Spyderco gets from our feedback. Since you are not an active participant the knife is not intended for you. You may certainly buy one and I won't complain, but get a grip, man.

edit - I'll tell you what burns me about macatac's post. When I joined the forum over five years ago I asked a lot of questions. Many of the people that patiently helped me learn are still here helping newbies and those of us that still don't know as much as they do. I'd hate it if one of them missed out on this. Now this @#%$ comes in here and doesn't just think he has every right buy a knife that was not intended for him, but NO, he's AGGRIEVED that anyone would even think for a second that they have more of a right to the knife than he does. That's what pressed my button: his misguided sense of moral outrage.
Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

Lighten up, I completely disagree with you.
Whomever has the chance to get one may, there is no group it's limited to, and I don't think Spyderco intends to do such limitations.
Spyderco made this knife so people could have a cool, limited edition knife that they could use or put on their mantle, not to provoke members and start a big argument.

Your post is extremely out of line, ignorant, disrespectful and outright RUDE.

If someone wants one, they d**n well are allowed to get one, actually no, two.
I've been enjoying this forum since early 2012, but never joined because I didn't know much about Spydercos, now I've gotten a fair amount of Spyderco knives and I decided on joining.
Does that mean I'm 'disqualified' from getting one?
NO.

Likewise.

Relax hall monitor, I am sure you and all those who you say are most deserving of this blade will get one.
This thing isn't even out yet and there is this much excitement about what might happen when it is released. Should be interesting to see what happens when it does.

Sorry to hear about your family member, I truly am. We had a similar situation
last year and almost lost our beloved long haired German Shepherd. Vet bills
are as bad as human hospital bills. I had to forego a few knives then myself.
When your family member looks at you with those eyes, you know that the
money was well spent. Hope that all goes well, take care.

This forum is very similar to life.

Family member, work associates, friends can sit around and discuss certain topics.
Sometimes those topics can provoke certain emotions from different members of
the group. You discuss and talk about the situaton, you point out your opinion,
and listen to others.

You aren't going to agree with everyone, in any situation. Sometimes people say
things that that they might later wish that they hadn't. It's life, it happens. It's a
continuous learning process. You try to not let words get too personal.

With a forum situation, it is hard to understand a person's exact intent. What a
person types, might not be the exact way that he/she meant it. You try to read
between the lines and give them the benefit of the doubt.

The knife will come out, some will get one, some will not.
It's all good, it will all work out.

I am really sorry to hear about this. It is very nice of you to take care of your four legged family member

Just keep in the mind that Domino you will be able to get later, I cannot say it about the Forum knife

You are correct. This is may be according to some, but not all. And I am not one of them. If you read Forum daily for a year, it is enough participation in my book.

With all due respect, I strongly disagree. People are different. Some are more talkative than others. Some people shy and some people cannot shut up, even when they have nothing to say.
I have a family member. I know him for more than 45 years. He taught me quite things, when I was young. His is not really talkative, sometimes on the family events he will not say a word, except hi and bye. Does this make him a lesser family member?

Hopefully with a 2 week notice, everyone who wants this knife will be able to purchase one. This should give me time to sell the soul of my first born child to be able to pay for the knife.

So begining the first of May, my part time job will be to check the forum 100 times a day. I hope there is enough for everyone.

Any chance that Spyderco will make the announcement by flashing a large spyder in the sky - alla BATMAN.

Once a day should suffice until they announce the release date, two weeks prior to release.

And what pressed MY button is YOUR misguided sense of moral outrage. You're crapping all over a dude because he finds it "interesting and kinda sad" that people don't want him to have a chance to buy a knife. Moral outrage? He didn't insult or attack anybody.

That's what you did.

This thread is degrading quickly. Exponentially from an epic announcement to a cacophony of rubbish. A stickied thread? Really?? Grow up.

It might be a good time (for everyone) to check egos at the door and take a breather. That's generally how this place operates when we aren't fighting over a new toy. If people can't do that they shouldn't be here. There are plenty of forums to ruin; pick another one.

Note: there is an ignore feature in your personal options. If you notice that someone never says anything productive its worth using.

Post-Coffee Edit : That was a bit harsh :o . Pretend I had more tact!

You get a grip and calm down. I don't know what your problem is but I've seen you hassle too many people here.

Blake,
I agree with you on almost everything what you said. Ignore feature is a great stuff. Just added one more person there (the third in seven years, not that bad. two previous are not with us anymore, they were banned, shortly after I added them :) )
People need to calm down. Kristi will announce the day of sale two week in advance, so anybody who really wants The Forum knife, will be able to place an order. Most of us are working, but we have lunches and breaks and everybody has cell phone in now days.

Yea I rarely use it. As you mentioned by the time they are added its usually the end of their presence (of their decision or not).

I don't like ignoring people. I hate getting aggravated and mouthy though as it comes naturally ;) . It's the lesser of the two evils.

I'm excited and appreciative for the forum knife. Awestruck at the challenge the Spydiecrew took on with 110v for a reasonable price. That's all that matters really and most everyone here has been extremely respectful.

With all due respect, the name calling and petty insults are completely out of line and uncalled for. If someone chooses to silently read and observe, that does not make them any less of a forum member. Discrimination based on post count is not in alignment with the spirit of this forum.

I will also add that two more forum knives just became available. This thread has completely soured any enjoyment I may have gotten out if this knife and I will not be getting any.

Let's get this thread back on track and talk about the Forum knife and not who should and shouldn't be allowed to buy it. I'm glad Spyderco is able to get this done with how busy the Golden factory has been lately. I'm not to crazy about the scale color or that it's a Native. I'm very impressed that they will be using the S110v blade steel and that is the main reason I want one. I don't own any knives in that particular steel so it would make this one even more special.
