First time modder here. My brother is an ultra-light backpacker. His base weight - the weight of the pack he carries with all gear less food and water - is about 11lbs. He'll do a week with a pack like that. So, every gram counts. He likes the Spyderco Bug because all he really needs is a small blade to open pouches of food, cut a cord, etc. For his birthday, I decided to give him the world's lightest Bug. I CNC-machined pockets on both sides of the handle and then inlaid some lasercut, brightly-colored stained wood (so they were less likely to get lost if he set them down outside). They turned out pretty well. The two holes came in handy for fixturing. Attached are some pics showing before and after one side was cut. Standard Bug weighs 11g, and these each weigh 8.5g, so mission accomplished.
Nice work! I now have new respect for a couple of Bug Sets I won in a contest years ago! I never regarded them seriously before.
K-390 on hand: Mule Team 17, Police 4 G-10, Endela (burlap micarta), Endela backup, Endura (canvas micarta), Straight Stretch (now blade-swapped with G-10 Stretch), Delica Wharncliffe, Dragonfly Wharncliffe, & Dragonfly Wharncliffe shorty mod Note to self: Less is more.

That's a pretty awesome mod! I do ultralight cross country cycling with ~8lbs of gear, and I use a modded Spyderco Ark. Looks like this knife beats mine by a few grams
Here’s a shot of my newly dyed Cruwear Para 3, used RitMore Racing Red. Hats off to Attila who posted his results and instructions in another thread. Shown next to my M390 PM2.
