I took this picture just minutes before my horse literally ripped the toenail off my big toe with his hoof. :(

That´s not exactly pleasant, sorry for you!
Lost both finger- and toe nails myself, due to little climbing accidents/rockfall, so I know that..

/ Nice scales in any case! :)
One disadvantage of my LW Manixes: Such nice scales are not really an realistic option..
Yeah, my toes look pretty gnarly today...so many shades of black, blue, and red! But thankfully no broken bones.

The lack of scale options is one definite disadvantage of the linerless models (and of course the pinned models like the Manix lw). I'd really love a set of these scales for my 4v Native, or a terotuf set, but so far no one makes them.
Julia,

I know you like your aftermarket scales and customizing your knives.

One --albeit expensive-- workaround is to use a factory G10 handled donor knife. With the Natives, i understand the FRN and G10 linerless frames to allow blade and lockbar swaps. IIRC Darby has done this with a Maxamet FRN and Cruwear G10 Native.

If you didn't want the resulting other 'parts knife' you could sell it to offset the cost.

Not ideal, and you have probably already considered, but just wanted to add that idea to the broader conversation.

Oh, and good luck with the foot. Hope it heals well and quickly.

GREY handle? Looks nice, but I am surprised that the bright green took the dye so well... or is this an Endura handle?!
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Really getting used to the NOT polished look of your edges.. :)

Tried your low grit approach on my VG10 Stretch and BD1N Manix, worked out pretty well so far I have to say... Will post in your "low grit sharpening thread" when I have a bit more real life experience and use with it.

I'll be looking for your reply! I've really come to like these edges. Fast to apply and I'm going 3 times as long between sharpening.

Thanks! I've definitely considered that option. In fact I have a search saved on ebay for when any used natives with liners pop up! Someday I'll grab one for a good price and swap the 4v blade into it.

Nope, it’s the new Pacific Salt. I just used a photo filter.
