Getting greedy, Roman! ;)

Nah no Lil' Persians so far and my current lack of hard cash means none for a while..........I have to go back to work to get more money for more knives, mores the shame......... :)

I may take long breaks but my on-going desire for the more unusual Spydies in a lot of cases means I need to work occasionally. I doubt I'll ever retire completely................. ;)

My little Military and ParaMil collection, I'm a late-comer to these two types and could kick myself for the fact I did NOT buy the D2 blades when they were freely available................some are fetching ridiculous prices now, prices I will NOT consider paying.............Military's first.............

Left to right Left Hand Millie Black G10, DigiCamo Millie Satin blade, DigiCamo Black Blade, Orange Millie, Carbon Fibre Millie, Fiedl Green Millie D2 blade (all others are S30V) and Titanium Millie.............

My even smaller ParaMil collection, early days for these yet....................AND a long way to go!

The FG in the middle is a D2 steel.........all the rest are S30V

Missing from the Group shots is the Para2 NEW version, shown below alongside one of the original DigiCamo's..................

Love the Carbon Fibre weave on this new knife!

Brian,
Nice pictures and great knives.
Believe me or not: I just recently bought my first para (para2 actually) and I do not have Military at all  :o . I never liked para. My buddy has most of them. I handle para on many occasions. For me, the knife has short blade with long handle. Out of curiosity I bought CF para2 and love it. I love even CF. I used to have BG42 Milly and hated Peel-Ply CF, but this one is quite different. I think it time to review my relation with Milly as well.
I am not asking about more pictures (do not want to be accused of been greedy :) :D ), but that will be nice.

Hey Roman!

Always most pleasant to hear from you.

I do have a class of knife I am very close to completing, at least completing to-date and that is the Natives, my first Spydie and the reason for my addiction........... :p :)

The only one I have missing is the OEF Native but that is going to have to wait until I'm back in a healthy surplus of funds...........I've got one or two of the Forum Knives but not really fussed about getting them all. Forum knives I view as a sub-category all by itself and of lesser importance to what I believe completes a series collection.

Don't worry, I haven't finished shooting pics yet..........I have a bunch of other makes of knives including Customs but this forum is about Spyderco's so I limit anything other than..........

Here's a rare one I've only seen up for sale once in the last few years, Spyderco Ramco Laguiole, a classic and gem of supreme design and quality, made in Seki City, Japan of course...............I'm missing the leather pouch for this but who cares, I have the knife!

Image

Image

Image

The design is VERY reminescent of the Texas Toothpicks and vice versa........

Details from Joyce a few years ago.........
Denis Lemaire was an creative French Canadian cutlery designer, maker, and friend of Spyderco. In the early '90s Spyderco made a French-style Laguiole model which Denis had engineered and designed. He was adept at producing innovative concepts and was well-acquainted with French influenced cutlery designs. A folder named the AKMA was one of his inventions and is produced today by Florinox Cutlery of Thiers, France.

The Spyderco Laguiole debuted as a high-tech version of a time-honored design. It featured:

~ A front lock (developed by Al Mar and Harvey McBurnette), the first ever lock-back Laguiole
~ A handle of black Micarta with brass liners
~ Blade steel was G-2
~ The traditional Laguiole "bee" found its' appearance underwent a subtle, buggy make-over
~ Notably absent were the Spyderco round hole and a pocket clip
~ Notably present, Spyderco serrations
~ It came with a tooled leather belt sheath
~ Spyderco's French design was manufactured under the Ramco label in Seki City, Japan
The Laguiole was discontinued in 1995-1996 and the MSRP at that time was $119.95, the sheath $19.95.

Strange knife, a French design, Americanized with serrations and made in Japan....

The OIF one is not in these shots, that'll happen tomorrow. The OEF version is the one I still need along with one or two (?) others outside of Forum knives...........

Brian,
very nice. I like Ramco Laguiole a lot, but it cost arms and legs :) :D , so I never had one. It is very rare bird.
Native was my first Spyderco knife as well. I had few variants during these years, most of them gone now. Even my original Native went to my son last week, I have only two FFG and blue G10 bladeforum left. Certainly will get new Native5. IMHO FFG natives look much better, especially 2010 Forum knife, without swedge.
Great pictures, keep them coming.
Thank you for sharing,
Roman

Sort by Colour? Gee, why didn't I think of that.......... :p  :D

Nah I haven't finished shooting my current collection yet as you well know...........

Happy with the Native shots NOT happy with the the Ramco Laguiole ones, the focus sharpness is off a tad............NOT pin sharp as I like them now

More shots perhaps today definitely tomorrow.........

My Manix and Manix 2 collection.............great knife and a collection I have to devote more time to to complete this year.................

Image

Image

Image

Image

Interesting mix of steels in here, going from left to right, Manix 2 black G10 Serrated 154CM steel, Manix 2 black G10 Plain Edge 154CM steel, Manix 2 Blue PE G10 S30V steel, Manix 2 Pink PE G10 154CM steel, Manix 2 Black CF PE S90V steel, Manix 2 Field Green PE CTS-XHP steel, the original smaller Manix 80mm Black G10 CPM-S30V steel Combo Edge, Manix 80mm Black PE G10 CPM-S30V steel, ALL of these are C101 series, and finally we have the two big Manix in the C95 series the first one in Black G10 Combo Edge, and the second in FG G10 Plain Edge both in S30V..................quite a few gaps but that should be resolved this year................

I may re-shoot these, taken too late in the day for my favourite piccie spot!

CALY's (just for Roman :) ), again a lovely little knife..........the black on the left and the two Burgundy's are all ZDP189 steel, the Grey and the new Caly 3.5 are both VG10 steel...............I prefer the plain metal clip to either the wire clip or the black one............

Viele's, the original Viele, two matched pairs PE & SE and the current Viele 2..........great knife design, great ergo's and a very sweet Gents knife.........the slightly smaller one at the top is the Viele 2......... ;)

Image

All are VG10 steel apart from the Serrated one with the double pin arrangement which is an AUS 8 steel.............not sure IF there is a PE in Aus 8 but would suspect so............

Brian,
Thank you. I appreciate these pictures and I am not too jealous: it will be OK for others to look at them. :) :D
Vieles also on my favorite list especially C42. Every day we are learning something new. I believe that I never saw C42s in VG10, I even didn't know that they were made. For some reason I thought that C42 with VG10 was made only in PE. Thank you for education. :)

The strange thing is that I have seen quite a few Blue Yo's on offer over the last year or so but hardly any Black ones. I still hanker after another Blue just to show the differences in the jimping............
