It was a close one between the Military 2 and the CruCarta Manix 2....Manix 2 in CruCarta wins KOTY 2024 💪😃

After years of the Ti stealth chaparral quickly returning to my pocket and pushing everything else out, I got a lil' native slipit that I've been looking at for some time.

Lil' Native Slipit is my new favorite Spyderco and my choics for Spydercop of 2024. I work in an office environment and for me a locking blade isn't necessary for my normal usage, in fact the slipit is preferable. Very similar grip to the Chaparral but the chunky G10 is more comfortable in my oversized mitts than the slim titanium. And I only give up about a 1/4 inch of cutting edge. I don't slice carrots at work so even with the thicker blade stock in the lil native, I see no performance difference between the two knives in use.

Now if Spyderco would make a titanium handled lil native slipit with a magnacut blade...I drool at the thought.

If I can call the Military 2 S110V new to me despite owning several OG Militaries, then that's the one. Otherwise it's the G10 Grasshopper. Everything else is a duplicate.

The only 2024 non-Spyderco is a Kershaw LiveWire MagnaCut, which I really dig. I don't think of myself as an OTF guy, but this one is sort of ergonomic and sort of reasonably priced...

Case Sodbuster and a Spyderco Techno 3 this year. Techno 3 wins the year easily.

For me it's the Magnacut UKPK Salt. Partly because I've been waiting so long for it to come out, but mostly because it's a perfect example of what Nick Shabazz calls "boring, in a good way". The weight, ergos, manipulation, edge retention, corrosion resistance, toughness, legality, carry... nothing about the knife makes itself conspicuous as a problem. (Failing to satisfy collectors' preferences is not a problem).

If we're talking Spydercos I hadn't tried before 2024, for me it was definitely the Native Chief (M390/G10). Most of the other Spydercos I purchased in 2024 I didn't wind up keeping for one reason or another. The only knife that might beat it is the Enuff 2 in K390, but didn't carry the Enuff 2... uh, enuff to put it above the Chief, even though I think I like it more based on my limited usage of it so far. My issue with the Enuff 2 is that the sheath it comes with is frankly not very good, and I'm still waiting on a custom sheath from Oak City Leather to be able to regularly carry the knife. The knife itself though may actually be the best EDC-sized fixed blade I've ever put my hands on. Like a Native 5 handle with a Native Chief blade in K390 attached to it, minus the finger choils. Except the blade is even better than the Chief in terms of geometry. Incredible knife, and I'm looking forward to carrying it a lot in 2025.

If we are including all of the Spyderco world including my existing knives, I'm not sure yet if either of those knives could dethrone the Manix 2 or the Native 5 as Spyderco's best knife. When I finally get some AWT LW scales on my MagnaCut Manix 2, I feel like it is going to be a hard knife to top as far as folding knives go.

Military 2 Sprint S90V and carbon fiber.
I hope I can say Bodacious for 2025; haven't picked one up yet since I'm waiting for a Sprint/exclusive.

Another vote for the Temperance 2 Serrated.

I. Love. Moki. Serrations. (And Cruwear).

They're magic. The Ayoob and T2 serrated have the same low profile Serrations that are absolute lasers.

I liked the SE so much I grabbed the old VG10 PE Micarta and am loving that too (maybe more? I'm a sucker for micarta)

Looking forward to the 15v military 2 and spynano on the near horizion.

Chaparral SE. ‘Nuff said.
Same here.

Just the epitome of spyderco-ish cutting performance (still amazed how this thing slices every time I use it).
...And also spyderco-ish quality.

Also glad that appearantly quite some forum members decided to give it a try... doesn't look like anyone who did got disappointed.
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

This year I look forward to the 4 inch cruwear SE model being released (I’m just doing a bit of cosmic ordering 😜).

Well, if cosmos would "just" give us a 3.5 " version of the current Chap SE, I would not complain either... ;)

Yeah, I’d be happy with any of the above. In fairness I’m pretty content with the current one, it’s pretty splendid.

For Spyderco in 2024 it would have to be a draw between the Rex121 Sage5 & the SE Chaparral. Both have gotten a lot of pocket time, both are outstanding. Here's to crossing my fingers for a SE Sage5 in 2025.... (Magnacut perhaps). :)

Last year I got my hands on some long anticipated Spyderco's, but no new designs.
Manix 2 LW Salt
Catcherman sprint, LC200N
Salt 1, PE
SS Police SE
Rookie PE, G10

The Manix LW, to my surprise didn't really tickle my fancy from the get go. I'm not giving up on it just yet, my favorite Spyderco spent years in my drawer before we connected.

The Catcherman sprint has been on the top of my "Please Sal, do a sprint!-list" for a very long time, and I'm very glad to finally have it, but it's a specialty knife that I unfortunately haven't got much use from this year.

Salt 1 was an impulse buy when it pop'ed up on a domestic second hand market, thinking it alleviate some of the regrets of selling my Pac salt 1 years ago. It's arguably a better size for me, and it's a nice addition to my Salt 2 lineup, but there was something about that pac salt 1 that the regular Salt 1 just can't prevent me from missing.

SS Police is mostly a collecting piece. I don't expect to use it much.

Finding and picking up a BNIB G-10 Rookie was when the Spyderco year of 2024 peaked for me. Together with the Catcherman it is probably the disco'd Spyderco I've been hoping to get a re-run for the longest time. While a new run would probably have introduced a more interesting steel choice, I'm more than happy to have this knife in VG-10.

2024 really delivered with regards to catching up on bygone designs.
It would be a pity to break the flow, so here's to hoping 2025 will be the year of the Junction :D

P.S. the consensus of this thread has also convinced me that a SE Chap will likely be coming my way this year.

Hope you'll follow through... I really grant you the experience of separating matter with that little beast... ;)

(I figure you browsed through the deficated Chap SE thread anyway already

The Bodacious obviously. If I had just one, this would be it, but what fun would that be.

My favorites all came later in the year, but the next two are instant favorites that get a lot of pocket time.
Military 2

Swayback. This one was a huge surprise. I carry this around a lot. Easily top 5 model for me.
Image

And I got this one in the latter half of 2023, but it dominated the first half of this year.
Sliverax

Honorable mention to the Delica K390 SE. It is never too far away.
And y'all don't let pictures fool you. Just because you take a pretty pic doesn't mean that knife hasn't seen gunk, yuck, and the back of my truck.

The Rescue 3 in good ol' VG-10 SE has been hogging my pocket quite a bit over the last few months. Opens, slices, or separates anything I point it at. Not much to look at, but man oh man what a body.
