Re: What's your go-to carry when you can't decide?
For where I am at the moment, it would be the UKPK. If locks were allowed, it would be the Chap.
Re: What's your go-to carry when you can't decide?
I never have a problem deciding. I put my carry knives in a small plastic tackle box, the clear boxes with compartments. This is about 8 knives. When it is time to switch to the next knife I just take the next one out of the box and carry it.
This was a little more regimented when I was going to my office every workday. Monday morning I would take out the next knife (and watch) and put them on to carry for the rest of the workweek. Since weekends I would be working in my garage or whatever I would wear a different watch and carry a different knife on weekends. So basically my carry knives (and watches) each got carried/worn for 5 days then went back in the boxes. All of them got carried equally, nothing left out. After Covid I was working primarily from home and these days I work 100% from home so Monday doesn't have as much meaning. I may switch the carry any day of the week and I'll try to carry for 4-6 days then switch to the next. That means that any of my knives might get used in my workshop but they can all do that.

Re: What's your go-to carry when you can't decide?
I'm so indecisive I could stand around for way too long trying to decide what the "perfect" knife for the day will be. It's dumb, it's trivial, they will all cut things, they'll all get sharpened again. So lately I've just been keeping 2 knives by the door next to my keys.
If I think things will go smoothly or probably won't even need a knife I've been defaulting to a UKPK Leaf in BD1N.
If I think things are likely to get abusive I've been grabbing a CE Delica and calling it good enough.
Having a default for either scenario is actually really nice and Ive ended up really enjoying 2 knives that didn't previously get a ton of pocket time.
I still rotate but if I catch myself hemming and hawing for more than a minute then I don't get a choice and I get defaulted lol.

My Delica
I've carried a Spyderco Delica of some sort since it was released. I've used it on duty as an EMT, and as an Army Medic in the Infantry. I then gifted that one to a soldier in my squad in need of a good knife. Later I replaced it with a newer version that I carried as a Med Tech and Cub/Boy Scout leader. I've used it to cut seatbelts, slingloads, medical tape, paracord, and clothing. I've opened boxes of x-ray developing fluid, sawed wet to dry cast material, and taught the Scout Whittling Chip course. Not once has it failed me.
I'm a knife-nut and have more knives than days of the month. If I'm unsure what knife to carry I default to my Spyderco Delica. After all these years a Delica just feels natural in my hand, I can manipulate it & change grips without even looking at it.

The Delica is a great knife! My first Spyderco was a Delica back in the '90s, and I own more Delicas than any other knife model. If I may ask, has your preferred edge type on the Delica been PE or SE?

With apologies to Spyderco, my default is a small Sebenza with plain handles.

Cool ! I knew you are a dedicated Delica boy but your writing inspired me. Which is your all time favorite Delica ? Sorry for the off topic but I am just curious since I am also a Delica fan boy.Halfneck wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 8:57 pmMy Delica

P.S When I can’t decide, my default go to carry is the Opinel nr.8 Carbone. Supreme slicer. From the Spyderco bunch I usually grab my moded Salt1. That being said I allways(no exception) have some teeth on me, the Dragonhawk being the king in this department.

K390 Delica 4 is the current default if I have to think on it.
Have gifted several delicas through the years (mostly Delica 4 full flat ground). Great knife and been around long enough that it is a classic. My first one was purchased in the mid 1990s

Re: What's your go-to carry when you can't decide?
This question is too easy. The knife in the picture has the biggest handle that is comfortable to carry in all clothing situations. The blade is about as big as you can fit into the handle. The bidirectional finish on the handle is the best surface ever invented. The weight of the knife is substantially less than knives a fraction of its size. It's hard to be indecisive when this baby is sitting on the desk.

My 'beater' is a K390 LW Wharncliffe Endura at 10DPS. Laser beam. It was bought at a steep discount on some sort of sale I can't recall, with the intention of being a heavy user. It's not my 'EDC' but it gets lots of pocket time.

I've been on the fence about getting the Stretch 2 XL for a very long time now. I think this just pushed me over.RustyIron wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 11:19 pmThis question is too easy.
