Too bad, I almost bought a Kris not so long ago.... I definitely should have !
The Kris is the winner for me, I can't have it in picture with its challenger, but the challenger being one of the ones I bought instead I think this is fitting.

Kris VS. Bob Lum Tanto, black blade edition :open-grin :

:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

I’m going to say the Lum wins, both because the blade shape is more practical and because it has Bob Lum’s name on it.

Speaking of weird blade shapes, how about a wharnie? It’s even black!

Lum vs. Rockjumper
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I would still say the Lum wins. Its a beautiful classic that gives me Samurai vibes. :grin-sweat
Also it seems to be the better user of the 2 for me personally as I do like a little belly over a wharncliff.

So to put 2 classics together what about the Lum Tanto Vs the Centofante Vesuvius?

I'll go with the Vesuvius because I know that model and the Centofante folders work pretty well for me, and I'm not wild about edcing a tanto.

Next up, another comp lock:

Vesuvius VS Yojimbo 1.

I had a Yojimbo 1 way back when they were current production and sometimes regret passing it on. The handle worked better for my hands than the Yojimbo 2. Thankfully they made the Yojumbo, but the original still has its charm to me.

Since we are on comp locks …

Yojimbo 1 vs Caribbean

I do not own the Yojimbo 1. Though that design looks really pleasant to carry. I imagine that the handle provides great control over cuts.

Why I picked the Caribbean-
Grippy handles pair well with the compression lock because the knife is less likely to slip out of your fingers when pinching the lock closed.

The Caribbean has a really smooth comp lock (I think because of the bearings ?) , a generously sized blade without a 50/50 choil and it’s a g10 salt. It was bodacious before the bodacious and clearly inspired the soon to be released pm2 salt .

Caribbean all the way - it is one of Spyderco’s most fantastic knives and punches way above its weight, especially in SE.

Next up - Caribbean VS PM2

I matched the Caribbean against the PM2 as when I first started using Spyderco knives everyone was raving about how good the PM2 is. I went way out of my way to pick up a PM2 Tanto (I like Tanto blades), used it for about three months then almost grudgingly picked up a Caribbean leaf SE as a beater for work. Ironically now my Caribbean gets used all day almost every day, and my PM2 tanto gathers dust in a box.

Caribbean LC200N vs Stretch 1 ZDP-189 --- Winner Stretch 1 ZDP-189

While I have never handled a Caribbean, it's a loser out of the gate with those scales. Sorry Mr. Bumblebee, no can do. And while LC200N may be great around water, this is not my sailing knife and I don't work on the docks. I don't want to have to resharpen any time soon, and my ZDP-189 provides that for me. Even the standard VG-10 works pretty well and I prefer that to LC200N, but that is my personal preference. And don't get me started on HAP40 although I do prefer ZDP-189. ymmv

While I am a fan of compression locks, if you are working without gloves for any period of time, lock backs are easier on the hands due to the full back. And the Stretch 1 has a lock back. The Stretch 1 also beats the Caribbean in weight by being lighter at 3.4 oz vs. 4.2 oz.

The original Stretch also provides a really nice grip on its FRN handles with an extended pinky coil at the butt end in addition to just the right amount of jimping on the top edge of the blade along with some jimping in the choil. Add in a nice upward curve on the blade side and nice downward curve on the back or swedge, and it makes for a beautiful blade.

Whether cutting apples in the office or cleaning deer in the field, the Stretch 1 is a great folder. It is my favorite blade shape of all Spyderco knives and this knife has seen EDC time for years.
