Just got a Paysan at the online seconds sale. Got a Police LW K390 SE last spring. My son got a swayback last week.

Don't want to sidetrack the thread but how is the Paysan you got? The one I got from the first sale is fantastic. I'm even more happy I have it now that it's been discontinued

I have the Swayback already and like it too. I'm kind of surprised it's been disco'd already

It’s great no lock stick very pleased. Same here glad I got it. Maybe the Swaybacks will be discounted I’d like to pick one up.

The Sage 5, Watu, Chaparral CF (I think it has full liners) and Sliverax are all specific designs or variants I wanted to buy...
I don't know if I'll be able to fit them all before the end of the year

Good thing stocks usually are empty slower in Europe. We're only 50, and we buy every Spyderco there !

I see this as a good thing. It’s really going to open up production capacity and allow for a lot of new stuff again! The future is bright!

Man, so many good and interesting knives are on the chopping block. I must admit, when I read your first two lines I thought to myself, "wow, rude." However, I think you are right. We all have our own pet projects that we would like to see hit retailers. That could be models, steels, handle materials, or whatever. Spyderco can't produce everything all the time; hard decisions had to be made.

In the end, there is a silver lining to all of this. Fans of the knives listed here can scoop them at (hopefully) a good price. Plus, the extra capacity (and Golden expansion) open up so many new possibilities.

Wow. Glad I was able to grab a Swayback, a CF Sage 5, and a Maxamet Sage 1 this year. A little more sad I couldn't grab a Paysan during the seconds sale. A lot of surprises in there.

In Europe it is the opposite! Once they know it is disontinued, they bump up the price...

Im gonna need a second one as a control point for when I'm making scales for it, ill try to go fast... The Military 2 PE just became available at Lamnia so my budget is gone !

ETA : WOW, these disco'd prices are crazy good. Most places sell the Watu for 280 €. I might try to find the best price possible and import it....

Yeah I usually buy from KC. They now have the Watu for $153.59. Add tax and it's within a few dollars of what I paid from National. Great deals either way

Surprised by the k390 wharndelica. A little by the wharndelica salts. The rest made sense to me.

I think the K390 wharndelica is the best in class for that size spydie (I have a few). But AFI's and the masses are often on different pages.

That is quite the list, longest I've seen in my time here. Some shocking, some expected. Makes me wonder if the Byrd lineup is struggling with all the competition in that price range these days?? More room for new models I suppose! Can't wait for SOMEONE to come in here and let us know he needs 25 of these and start 25 threads about them

Though I do not share your enthusiasm , I think you are correct in that this should open up production for new models and maybe upgraded versions of popular model (I am looking at you Seki and your Cruwear Gray G10 combos).

Grabbed a back up Delica Wharncliffe K390 and an Endura K390 SE, for my “never need to sharpen” knife, at National. Sad to see the K390 go. I hope they are keeping some of it in the line up. It’s just too good.
