Re: Centofante wharncliffe
I remember reading somewhere that Michael Janich was impressed while testing the cutting ability of the Centofante's wharncliffe blade, which led him to developing his blade style. So we possibly have this knife to thank for the Yojimbo, Ronin, Yojumbo, and the Microjimbo.

Re: Centofante wharncliffe
Actually, the Centofante models that triggered my paradigm shift toward Wharncliffes were the C25 and C50 models. Here is a photo of them I borrowed from forum member Reject (thank you) in another thread:spydergoat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 1:00 pmI remember reading somewhere that Michael Janich was impressed while testing the cutting ability of the Centofante's wharncliffe blade, which led him to developing his blade style. I still have the original models I "Pork Man" tested in my collection. They were later joined by a Centofante custom in the same design style that was given to me by my boss at Paladin Press, the late Peder Lund. Peder and Frank were friends and Peder, who had a penchant for carrying custom-crafted gentleman's folders, was very fond of Frank's work.
Stay safe,
Mike

Are the switches on the sides of the pictured knives' handles secondary locks to lock the knives open or closed or both?

Those are secondary safeties for the LinerLocks.

I might be misunderstanding, but do the safeties keep the knives closed or open? Since you're calling it a safety, I am assuming closed.Michael Janich wrote: ↑Fri Aug 04, 2023 7:04 amThose are secondary safeties for the LinerLocks.

Re: Centofante wharncliffe
I'd get it reground to get rid of the flats, but the pinned construction is a nogo for me. If it had non-pinned variants, then maybe I'd consider it.
Re: Centofante wharncliffe
i'm really hoping for a non-pinned, deep cobalt blue frn, and spy27 version.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

No, they only operate when the knife is opened. You open the blade and the LinerLock engages normally to lock it. If you want to add the function of the safety, you slide it forward and it blocks the liner, preventing the lock from being released.cjk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 04, 2023 9:23 amI might be misunderstanding, but do the safeties keep the knives closed or open?
