It’s that time of year again and the longer I have the Caribbean as my main fishing knife, the more I start to wonder if there’s any better general purpose, on the water, fishing/boating knife on the market. In the last year mine has cut jig trailers, hacked through braided fishing line, cut down small branches “because I’m not about to lose that new fly I just tied on the second cast”. I’ve only had to strop it a couple times and as expected, there isn’t the slightest hint of corrosion. I could see if you wanted to carry something smaller…maybe a salt or a native salt (which is my number two fishing knife). But to be honest, if there was a Sophie’s choice situation, I would take my Caribbean over my magnacut native in an instant. Which makes no sense…I love the native line, I love tool steels, I prefer a finger choil, I don’t tend to fall in love with highly stainless steels or wacky knives. But the complete package of the Caribbean just does it for me. In my opinion, it’s the greatest fishing knife ever devised.

Nice write up!
I always love to read from a fellow "Spyder-head" when a knife just feels so right, works, fits and "clicks".
I can totally relate to that.

I ordered a UK Penknife for my small fishing adventures. The LC200N version. Small and lightweight should be great

I have magnacut manix that is waiting for its first fishing trip, but for long time I used plain VG10 Delica and it served me well.

LC200N is a big part of why I like the Caribbean so much…it does reallt well in wet environments (obviously) and it’s easy to maintain.RugerNurse wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 5:34 amI ordered a UK Penknife for my small fishing adventures. The LC200N version. Small and lightweight should be great

I remember when there was talks about a bigger version. I guess demand fizzled and it's shelved.
