The Police 4
I first saw the knife in the catalog, and I have to say my first impression was totally negative. I thought, "Who would want that monster of a knife?" -- and with "POLICE" marked on it!? No way! And I flipped the page.
Well, the Police 4 gets rid of the obnoxious markings. You also get FFG. It was the K390 that made me buy one, or tipped the scales after a lot of thought. And the wonder of it all is that the knife is slim and pleasant to carry. No doubt about it, it is a big knife, but if you are used to carrying a Military, the Police will seem like a slim and sleek version. And if you are used to carrying the PM2, the Police 4 won't feel any different in your pocket. Really a sleeper of a knife, and I think it often gets misjudged just as I misjudged it.

There has been two exceptional knives that come to my mind right away. The dragonfly salt serrated and it's xl brother the pacific salt serrated. Accompanied with a sharpmaker, they're lightweight fully functional and maintenance-free.

I picked up an endura 4 in ZDP-189 after some time i realized it was in my right pocket every single day. My native 5s rotate through my left pocket. Then i pulled the trigger on a hap-40 endura. And much to my surprise the hap40 has replaced my zdp in my right pocket, and the zdp is now tucked in my boot every day. I did not expect the enduras to dominate my edc like they do. But they most certainly do make me happy and do every job i have asked of them. And they can both be made world endingly sharp!
Native 5 S110V G10 and LW. S90V LW. Salt LC200N. Maxamet. S30V G10 and LW. Endura 4 ZDP-189. HAP40. VG10.

I went from about ten Spydercos to none for a while. I’ve now gotten three. My most surprising edc is my Para 3. My Chaparral FRN is second. I will most likely sell my other Spydie and wait for the Smock. I will then have small, medium and large. But at this point, it’s the Para 3.

I was never going to buy an Ed Schempp design. Then I met him at the factory seconds sale and the Bowie was on sale. So cool to have him sign the blade. Then I carried it for a while and I love the negative blade angle and the way you can choke up on that handle with those brass bolsters. So yeah I have an EDC I didn’t expect.
:spyder: Shaman REX 45, Smock, Baby Jess Horn CE, Spydiechef, Schempp Bowie,Ti Fluted Military, Titanium Military, Native S30 V and G10, PM 2 in S35VN, and S110V, Manix 2 LW BD1 and SPY 27, Sage 5, Positron black CPM S30V, Chaparral w/Raffir Noble scales, SuperLeaf VG 10, Ladybug H1, Dragonfly 2 in ZDP 189 and Superblue/420J1 and H1, Delica in ZDP 189, Clipitool Standard, the Cook’s knife VG10, Santoku, paring and utility knives, all in MBS 26. :spyder:

The more I think about it, the Pacific Salt is another I should mention.
I got a PE when they first came out to use as a beater. I EDC'd a Military at the time and thought it was a much nicer, higher end knife. I only carried the Pacific Salt when I wanted a rust proof knife or I planned to do more abusive cutting tasks.
Over time I realized the Pacific Salt worked better for me in many ways than most of the higher end models. Lighter, tougher blade, larger opening hole, rust proof, strong self close and dead simple to take down for cleaning.
Then a second time around this model surprised me. I got a fully serrated Pacific Salt and told myself I'd EDC it for a week or two and give serrations another shot.
I never liked them before, and even converted a couple SE knives to PE.
I ended up liking the SE version better than my PE. It's the knife in my pocket now.
I never thought a fully serrated "beater" knife would knock the Millie, Manix and Police out of my pocket as much as it does.
