I have the basic black S30V and I have never felt the need to upgrade it. It is a solid performer. I have looked at some steel upgrades, but when I consider the cost (exchange rate), it has not been worth it. This is a very nice knife and actually fits my hand. This knife, and the Endura (with mods) are two that fit. The Manix 2 does, but is a little tight, but not too bad.

Doc, have you ever tried a Manix XL? If not, you might enjoy the 2oz weight increase over the FRCP M2, and longer blade.Doc Dan wrote: ↑Fri Oct 19, 2018 6:15 amI have the basic black S30V and I have never felt the need to upgrade it. Re: Just placed my order for my Military.
I had one and sold it. I loved, really loved, the knife itself. However, the lock on mine was simply not workable. It was so hard to use that even my big hands had a problem. It is too expensive to send knives back to Spyderco, so I sold it off. If I had one that the lock was easier to use, I would keep it and use it for sure.Vivi wrote: ↑Fri Oct 19, 2018 10:52 amDoc, have you ever tried a Manix XL? Re: Just placed my order for my Military.
How come the Military doesn’t use a Compression lock? I love the military, but I know that the liner lock directly correlates whether your blade will have any horizontal play, or vertical play. Can anyone comment on this? I may get a Military in S110V.

Re: Just placed my order for my Military.
Because a liner lock is much easier to close with gloves on. This knife is a real workhorse. And a well made knife like Spyderco won't have blade play.
Also the complaint many have is the tip down only on it. But after handling this knife myself i think that tip down on it is much nicer. I wouldn't change a thing. My only gripe is a cosmetic one and that is the domed pivot screw which i would like to see flush with the scales like on the PM2 and Para 3.

Ok, I see that pivot screw now. I wonder if it could be swapped for a PM2 pivot screw. Oh well, anyways I think the pocket clip is fine too. I haven’t touched the one on my Blurple PM2, and I’ll never move it either. I moved the pocket clip on my tenacious from the standard carry location, “ because it looked cool” and it has just annoyed me ever since.
Anyways the military is a serious slicer!
