It has one of the very best locking mechanisms ever made, S30V perfection, it's large enough for both self defense and survival, and perfect ergos for me. My Spyderco Military just sits in the safe with many other high dollar folders. There is no better knife offered in that price range. I recommend using the zip tie mod to make it a wave, opens like grease lightning.
Thank you raf. Very nicely put. And, I have no doubt the zip tie would do that :)

Even though I choose the Southard or GB above it quite often, it still is one of my favorite ever spydies.
Great ergo's + great value + great materials = great knife :D

Love the way these scales look :D
I did put on the G10 scales a while back, and I must say they provide a little more grip;
But the jimping, finger grooves and choil provides more than enough grip for me and these scales aren't as slippery when wet as one would expect.
Even if they were, I would still keep them on because I love the look and it's different from all the black handled spydies in the collection :)

Manix 2 xl is an amazing value for the package. I really would love to see it in more steels.

Cruwear Manix 2 xl to match the Manix 2 would be one of my dream knives.

They are gorgeous.
I'd just about give anything to her in S110V.

Manix 2XL and Sig X5's... a nice pairing there!

X5 is a fairly large firearm, do you guys have open carry up there? I know there's quite a libertarian community in that area.

Hmmm... I too have been looking at the Manix 2XL... Love the Military for general EDC, but curious to handle the Manix 2XL.

Congrats!!

I have both and carry them in my EDC rotation.

The most obvious comparison would be what is obvious- the Military is relatively long and narrow, the XL is taller. The Military feels lighter. I haven't compared directly but I think the handle on the XL is a bit shorter. The XL fits my hand better and I think it gives me a more secure grip.

Of course the locks are different. I like both lock types so that is not a deciding factor for me.

I like the looks/lines/shape of the XL better but that is personal preference.

Hi Dan.
We recently moved, although I dont believe that open carry was a problem. At any rate, the X5's I have are the older generation made by the Sig Master Smiths in the MasterShop. One , the Black & White is a MasterShop Individual Series X5 (9mm) and the other is an X5 Competition in 40 S&W - However, I have already converted her to a 357 with a BarSto barrel. I use an Alessi shoulder rig for the both, as both will fit. All in all very nice. But as you say, not exactly inside the waistband pistols :)
Ill get some pics up of them hopefully this weekend with all the Spydie pics Im behind on. Itll be some pretty decent gun porn I hope.
