BOOM!

Had planned on pulling the trigger on a Lil Matriarch as a partner to the Matriarch 2 I bought a few weeks back, but seen it made the list here. I IMAGINE it will be replaced with another model (LM2?) but who knows. Just in case I decided to order one from a well know online shopping company who had the lowest price anywhere I found (around $63). I DO NOT have the money but oh well....Black Friday...credit cards...right???? :spyder:

Just before I ordered however I checked the famous auction site and found one with FOUR MINUTES REMAINING an NO BIDS. It had an opening bid of $58.45 so I made that and watched. I got it, as no one else bid in the remaining 3 minutes.

So YAY for me. NOW I have to tell the wife... :(

Hey MacLauren-do you have an extra bedroom I could crash in for a few nights??? :p

I'm not too upset about anything on the list. I'm more excited about what this means in terms of CQI, and what is coming next (and when)!

Come onnnn, G10 Stretch!

Black FRN Stretch being discontinued is a bit of a surprise. Maybe most people who want a Stretch get the ZDP model.

I've always wondered why they had the Delica and Endura parts kits. The kits had the parts I thought you would never or very very seldom need to replace. The things of value as replacable parts would be scales, blade and screws. Sometimes we break or chip a blade badly. Sometimes we damage scales or just want a different color. Sometimes we loose screws. But with the parts that are in the kit I have wondered how many kits they sell. Maybe not enough. I assume since the knives aren't being discontinued all the parts will continue to have a place in the manufacturing schedule.

The Sage4 was somewhat of a surprise to me. Since all Sages are the same size with same ergos people buy other models because of appearance or lock favoritism. Dunno. The only thing I found a little bit disappointing was the lack of beauty in the wood scales on the knife in my hand compared to how it looks when photographed in the proper light. The wood is pretty, just not "brightly" pretty as it is in some pictures. Still, I think it is a great, sturdy knife. But, if I wanted a sturdy Sage I think I'd get the Sage 2.

Several people surprised about the Caly 3.5. I was too a bit based on the reviews and opinions. I am glad the Caly 3 with ZDP/ss will still be available. That is on my "want" list.

I appreciate Spyderco publishing the discontinue list. It gives people the opportunity to get a discontinued knife they want before another knife they want that will still be in production. Thanks Spyderco and crew. Other companies may do this but Spyderco is the only line of knives I follow with any consistency.

There are quite a few small, subtle differences among the Sages, Jack. Scale size, blade shape, thickness, and obviously, weight. They are similar, but definitely not identical - but you are right about the ergos. All of them feel equally comfortable in my hands. :)

Jack, don't discount the Sage 3 too, it's the sleeper favorite among the series. One of the smoothest action Spyderco locks ever... The Sage 2 is nice, but there are other Ti RIL models out there that might be a bit better even if it's the lock (and good ergos) that you're after. I'm thinking of both the Domino and Slysz Bowie here. I love these tough decisions, don't you? ;) Cheers, Radioactive :)

I always dislike seeing the Spyderco discontinued list each year... Kind of makes me sad. So many good models that just didn't make the cut. :( I guess the flip-side to that is that we get to see many new and/or upgraded models. Such a bittersweet occasion. I suppose I should buy a Sage 4 or Caly as a consolation to myself. :p

Just received my Black Friday Tuff and Caly 3.5. Mind blown with the Tuff. Mine seems perfect. Smooth, no lockup stick, early and strong lockup. I didn't think the Caly 3.5 was that tiny! A great edc for sure, funny it took me this long to pick one up.

LionSpy was also discontinued.

Yes, the Lionspy is discontinued for 2015. It was a small oversight on our part when we compiled the discontinued list.

Enjoy it, and don't be afraid to carry it. It carries a lot better than you'd think, and it looks really good with a custom scale and backspacer (Ask me how I know)...fantastic knife.
