It kills me sometimes when I only have one of an exclusive/limited that I really like. Example Caly 3.5 SupeBlue. It'll never be made again! Ahhhhhhhh! So I bought two.
Waiting for a second 20CP Para2 to use...
Using Exclusives

That is funny. I never used any limited Paras, but the Forum knife is my most used currently. Most of my users are limited, discontinued or customized. But I have back-up for all of them, except Ti Fluted Native5.Holland wrote:now only have one knife i dont plan on using (forum native 5).

Good question(s) for sure. Life is short, shorter than you think so figure out what is going to make you happy. My dilemma has always been this: I get my hands on a Sprint, Forum, or Exclusive knife and the thing goes way up in value, sometimes overnight, and then I feel guilty for even thinking about using it. I tend to turn in to Gollum and just stroke it while saying, "My Precious". So they become safe queens or get traded or sold for the next new wonder from Spyderco.
I keep several production Spydercos around as my users, particularly ones that probably won't shoot up crazily in value. Part of the pleasure I get from knife buying/collecting is the pursuit and the the occasional gifting to an unsuspecting friend or forum member in need.

You can't display a toad in a fine restaurant like this! Why, the good folks here would go right off the feed!
The purchaser is entitled to do whatever he wants with the knife.
I have bought a lot of custom hunting knives for my collection, and I never intended to use them. I did worry a little bit that the makers might be sad that their knives never get used, but they would be happy that I enjoy owning and looking at them, and they would be really happy that they got paid for the knives.
OTOH all of my folding knives are bought with the intention of using them. Many of the desirable limited models are really limited and very hard to find by collectors. I have no problem with a person buying one of the knives and really using it, even though that deprives one collector of the chance of getting one. I have no problem with a person buying a limited edition Spyderco with the intention of collecting it and not using it, after all a person can buy the standard model to use.

Using the knife is much more satisfying than pampering a safe queen. I mostly collect sprints and exclusives and I use them all. :)
