I did that and it worked Ted. Thank you.

Lightroom compressed mine to 1.4 MB at 2942x1955 (sRGB JPEG quality: 100% and Sharpened for glossy paper) should be fine :)

I may be reading this wrong but you may have dropped your resolution down too much. It needs to be:

Width: 3450 px
Height: 2700 px
Resolution: 300

Same issue with uploading here.
I don't think it makes much sense to decrease the jpg-quality of a 300 dpi jpg, so that the filesize is under 2 megs.
I can only achive this filesize with 30% jpq-quality and 300 dpi. ---> tested with lightroom 5
At first I tried to upload my dng-file. This format wasn't supported at all; I always thought that dng is a standard for print publishing.

And congrats to all other winners, really awesome pics!

That's interesting, I resize to 5.0 megapixels and compress using 90% Jpeg compression at work and the file sizes range from 0.6 to 1.2 megs. 3,450x2,700 is 9.3 ish megapixels.

I would think you'd want 95% compression if the file size doesn't get too big. The file size is going to depend on how random the information is in the picture. If you take a picture of grass or a textured surface like closeups of bricks, your file size is going to be pretty large.

Oh wow, congrats to all the other winners and entrants, its an honour to have my image on the calander, and a nice knife to boot!

I also tried to submit my high res image this morning but was stopped by the size limit, Im waiting to hear back about reducing the size and possibly the quality... my image is only 3.1mb.

Thanks again to spyderco and the forumites for making this happen

I went ahead and emailed Joyce my full size pic. Don't know if they'll be able or want to use it but I feel better with them using the full size version over the compressed one.

Don't resize, just dial down on the jpq quality.

JPEG 80% did the trick for me also, just under 2MB and at the correct resolution :) Thx Ted for the tip!

Have to wonder if they've got the settings wrong for the uploads. You'd think they'd want maximum quality, rather than a compressed file. I'm certain they allowed much larger files to be uploaded last year and it's only 13 photos, total, so it's not as if large files would choke the system.

We are having link issues and our "web-fellow" is working on it now. Thanks for your patience. Once the link is operational again, we will post and let you all know it's up and running. Thanks again to everyone who participated and congrats to the winners. It's going to be an exceptional calendar this year.

If you can't sort it out, PM me and I'll give you my email and you can mail the pic to me, I'll resize for you and send it back.

Unless what Joyce is saying is that there is actually an upload settings issue?

Yeah that was my interpretation, it seems to just be a default setting, think they are working to imcrease size limit. I would wait to hear back before submitting a compressed file.
