Anybody from DFW going to the sale this year? I have a specific item I am wanting, and if someone from here IS going, and wants to do me a favor, I can come up with cash. Please let me know.

Last year I made my flight plans to go out to Denver the week before Thanksgiving with the thought that I could go to the SFO sale, only to find out it was canceled. It figures that the only time I can go they decide to cancel. Still had a great time and bought a bunch of knives from the SFO, so I guess it wasn't too bad. Oh well, maybe next year (assuming they don't cancel again).
The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

You guys are so lucky we in the uk never have these opportunities and even if we did the online thing then we still get hit by the evil customs duty and vat man.
How I hate you all
happy buying all .
Please post your purchase pics despite the fact it will sting.
And if anyone like above would pick up a dodo I'll make up a difference so there is a profit in it ?

I live 80 or so miles away. I don't want to stand in line for several hours and I'm not looking to buy a bunch of knives to resell. I would like a Delica with wave, a Yojimbo 2 and maybe a Caly with CF handles.
Can anyone share what the pricing usually is in relation to retail? How likely is it I'm going to be able to get what I want if I show up say when the doors open at 8am? Thanks.

I've been there once and I showed up on time. There already was a line, kind of like the lines in Disneyland. However, the atmosphere was very good in the line. You are basically standing in a big line of knifeknuts. No guarantuees on any of the models you might want in advance, definitely don't count on very new models being available. But you do get killer deals on the knives you can get. I remember I bought a whole bunch of friends the Yin Yang kitchen knives, that only needed a manual sharpening (the bevel was too thick).

Sounds like a good holiday to me bud beats waiting for a ride but I thought that too, the wait would be a great chance to talk spyder chat , and meet some good folk.
It's a shame in a sense that this is such an international forum many others have regular meets that cater for different locations within the forum country.
I have travelled but never stateside if I do I'll definitely coincide it with a spyderco event or even just a golden visit .

This year was my 1st time at the factory sale. I've come to further appreciate Spyderco's 'quality control,' because as a knife maker and long time Spyderco fan I was hard pressed to find anything wrong with most every knife I looked at up there today. This tells me that for a knife to pass their final inspection and be sold as 1st rate they have passed extremely stringent scrutiny.
All the staff up there were friendly, as always, and they had things running pretty smoothly. My friends and I got there at about 0545 and were out of there by 0930 with no problems and big smiles on our faces.
Oh, and yesterday when I was up at the SFO to pick up a Yojimbo2, I ran into Michael Janich. How cool of a coincidence is that.

Just heard back from my brother, who attended the sale. He was pleased, and I was shocked as all get-out to hear that he found me a YO2!

Awesome, awesome sale. I got 9 knives, including 4 sprint runs, at 2pm. I got approximately $2400 MSRP knives for $600. Other than the little notch, and no box, you would not know these are seconds. EDCers dream come true. Thank you so much. Be good, and sharp.
