S90V is better

m390 is overrated, unless you want a very corrosion resistant steel that has good edge retention. Otherwise, S30V is just as good.
Wow, a 4 year bump. Have to admit, my knowledge on steel has increased since 2012 re-reading my statement.

I'm not sure where neither the M390 Military nor the M390 Para Military 2 range in on the Rockwell scale. All I can add is that M390 in the PM2 performs really well, but have no experience with CPM-S90V (Missed the sprints and cant justify $300-400+ for one on the secondary market).
I can tell you first hand that since I finally snagged an M390 C-36 Military model it's been the only one of my C-36 User Military models that I even carry or use at all anymore. I've had such excellent luck with it and the overall performance as made M390 one of my top 5 favorite blade steels of all time.

The M390 seems to have excellent corrosion resistance and also seems to hold up under very hard use very well. OH I do like S90V as well but I tend to like M390 just a tad better for what I use a daily folder for. I would love to see a C-44 Dyad and/or one of the Hawkbills made with M390. An M390 Harpy would be a super Sprint consideration IMO
