I use something called the "FireSteel" This has served me very well,even in the wettest conditions. Here is a link, http://firesteel.com/. Another trick I learned, I take a ziplock bag full of vaseline soaked cotton balls to help start the kindling.And believe me,when a couple sparks hit those cotton balls,they burn like crazy.

Another option is the "Aurora Fire Starter 2SA with Magnesium" made in the USA by Solo Scientific. I bought one for my son last Christmas and was able to give it a try, very impressive.
