If I carry two I don't consider one a backup. Carrying two knives for me is always because of them being different in some way, usually size. My favorite is the Sage1 and a Gayle Bradley. I'd use the Sage1 unless there is a task that requires a tougher knife. However, most of my normal use the Sage will handle with no problem. Sometimes I'll carry the Chaparral instead of the Sage. Then I will use the GB more often. Still, the Chaparral is very capable.
