Caly3.5/3 FRN?

Discuss Spyderco's products and history.

What do you think of a Caly3 or Caly3.5 in FRN?

I would certainly buy one and/or think it would sell great!

The Delica is fine for me and probably does a dandy job w/o competition.

And the UKPK FRN models sit in this space as well - albeit without locks.

Well, I would like an FRN Caly 3 or 3.5 because I have no Caly Jr.'s. The upcoming sprint run will also feature micarta handles which will probably result in a price around $100, if not more.

I think an FRN Caly 3 would be great. Those wanting a choil, low-profile clip and a good slicing blade would be served by the design instead of pushing for a Delica 5 to be made. We would also get to see U.S. steels used on one of Spyderco's best slicers.

Additionally, the price should be cheaper than the Caly 3 in ZDP and the Caly 3.5 in VG10 due to FRN scales.

Not sure why you think US steels would be an option, hasn't happened yet on a Japanese Spyderco. If you want that in a knife that out slices the Caly 3, consider the Chaparral.

How about using a different steel? I likes me the sound of an aogami super blue caly 3.5 in FRN!

I had stated earlier that I would like to see an FRN Caly 3 made in Golden - so I can have U.S. steels on one of my favorite models. ;)

It's nice to see the FRN UKPK's made in Golden but I still want a FFG and lock on them.

Yea it's very unlikely they would switch places of manufacturing as its only been done a couple times (ATR and Michael Walker that I know of). A double-edged sword really as some might be miffed if the Para2 was shipped to Taiwan.

Love the Caly 3.5 and Caly 3 but I'm not interested in a cheapo version of it. It is more of an enthusiasts knife or an "aficionado knife". I prefer it to stay just like it is.

Buy a Delica or a Stretch or a Centofante III. ;)
