That’s the first time I couldn’t put a knife down. I played with it constantly, just opening and closing it, staring at it. Fondling it. A measly little FRN Spyderco folder got me ADDICTED.

Spyderco is RESPONSIBLE for my obsession. Before that, the Kershaws and Gerbers just didn’t do anything “special” for me (don’t get me wrong, I love both makers) - but the Spyderco “triggered” something in my head - I don’t know what it was, but it got in my blood, kind of like riding a motorcycle. You just can’t quit it, once you “get" it.

Okay, I think I just talked myself into a frantic need to acquire a new Spyderco. The hunt begins...
Seriously man, what the he$$ is about these knives that makes us all do these things. It makes NO sense to me. I have carried knives my whole life, but after my first spyder, I just went nuts. I just love my Stepford, I mean Spyderco knives.

Few months after i got my first Endura i realized that it's really all i carry. It has all i need - and many more that i don't need now but may need one day - all in one knife. Other knives i had were short of something, maybe one thing, perhaps very small thing. But why compromise if there is better choice?
It takes one Spyderco to push many others breeds out of our pockets to honorable retirement on comfortable shelf or summoned to hard and dirty jobs :) .

In some sense we define it as perfection, and then it becomes natural to explore other forms of that perfection and character. I have same issue with Glocks :)

dmon, I have the same issue with Glocks. Everytime I think about my Gun wishlist, a Glock 21SF keeps coming up, even thought there are many, many choices and new designs out. I'd like a 1911, but for a 45, why not go with what you know and trust.

That's exactly how I feel about my para 2 and my G22 today.

I've often wondered how much of Spyderco's business is made up by what I would call knife "enthusiasts". Or maybe just people who like collecting Spydies. Or is most of their business made of people who just need a good knife? Just curious.

As for me, I don't collect. I have a few knives & they're users. Nothing wrong with a being an enthusiast &/or collecting, though. We all have our hobbies/passions.

Hhh, yeh but who did this quote come from?

"We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better."

Love the picture, is that an Insight HX120 with the para and g22. And a picture of my ex-wife underneath.

Thanks, I wish it was. :D

It's just a Fenix TK-15.

Fenix is a good light too. I broke down last year and bought an Insight HX-150 and then HAD to have the little brother HX-120. They are not cheap, but the quality is sick. It's hard to go back once you step up. The same with the Spyders, I can't carry another knife either now. It's a kind of a Spyder-Glock-Insight thing.

Yep, the Fenix works fine but I do hear the insights are another matter altogether. :D
