I am finding this thread extremely awesome. Because to be painfully/truthfully honest with you guys I've always admired fixed blades but I haven't devoted myself to them nearly as much as I've wanted to in the past. I feel like I've just scratched the surface and I'm darn glad the good Doctor felt compelled to put this thread up.
First of all I want all of the Spyderco big boys that I don't currently have i.e. the Rock Salt, Temperance 2 and more of the Temp 1s if I can find them and particularly the Spyderedged versions. The Spyderco Warrior literally has me thinking about taking on 3 jobs just so I can get one quick.
Some of the other stuff you guys have mentioned like the Szabo line and those magnificent Fallkniven blades have always garnered my utmost respect. My most wanted Bowie is without a doubt the Fallkniven THOR model. That is a production masterpiece that any knife company should envy.
Now for roughhousing and just rambling through the timber I find some of my older Cold STeel stuff to be quite nice in a way. I particularly am fond of both the Gurkha Kukris I still have and use.
Great Thread Doc>> Great to see you back again too Sir :)
List your 10 most Favorite Production Fixed Blade Knives for SD
The Doctor sure ordered this thread
Long Live the SPYDEREDGE Spyderco Hawkbills RULE!!

Alright... not sure if I can do 10, but I'll give it a shot.
1) Gerber Mk II. No question, my absolute favorite FA style blade... at least until Sal makes one :-D
2) KA BAR. Obligatory.
3) REKAT Hobbit Warrior
4) Spyderco Warrior. Per 3 and 4, what can I say... I am a sucker for those curves. Still putting pennies away for 4, but my REKAT is a prized part of my collection.
5) Cold Steel Khukri. If we are talking SD with any knife, regardless of the ability to conceal it in order to not start a panic wherever you go... I will always opt for the larger blades. The Khukri design in general is great for maximizing the impact of what is already an absurdly large piece of steel. Even a glancing blow with the forward curve of the blade can inflict massive damage, and a properly placed cut or stab will ignore heavy clothing and put steel to bone without issue. The model I own is the Ghurka Khukri... say what you will about Cold Steel... they know their way around a big knife. Which brings me to...
6) Cold Steel Laredo Bowie. Same argument as before per big blades... if I am not restricted by concealment requirements, I'm opting for the biggest hunk of high carbon I can find. My Laredo is a factory second (only way I could afford the **** thing), due to imperfections in the finish. Still, I like it and carry it fairly often when I'm outdoors.
7) Emerson Kerambit. Don't own one... I'm probably stretching to get 10 knives on the list. But, I sure would like one. I've no training in silat or anything like that, so it's unlikely that I could take full advantage of a kerambit. But, a wicked hawkbill is a wicked hawkbill... and I can see it coming in handy for SD.
8) Fairbairn Sykes Combat Dagger/ Fairbairn Applegate Dagger. To be perfectly honest, I'd prefer the Gerber Mk II to either. But, if you have to conceal a knife that packs the maximum punch... these will do the trick. As a matter of fact, seeing as they are both engineered to be the perfect fighting knife by some of the worlds foremost experts in hand to hand combat (circa WWI-II, anyway)... they will do better than the trick :-D
9) Boker Smatchet. Another Fairbairn design... and another one I don't own but, really, really want. Of course, my big knife preference and the limitations thereof still apply.
10) Um... Fremen Crysknife. Because the spice is life :-P. Only kidding, lets say... the Fallkniven A1. Cause it's pretty much the only other FB fighting knife that I can think of right now :-D.

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Good Choices Jordan, I'm not restricted on blade length either...hence the Rock Salt or Hissatsu on the right hip...I like a big blade....as far as Cold Steel IMHO they can't make a folder for the love of money but when it comes to fixed blades they get a nod from me in my book. The Smatchet (I got one) Gifted to me from Chad Los Banos (Daywalker) it is awesome if you like to wield a larger blade...Boker did a great job on them....Doc :)Jordan wrote:Alright... not sure if I can do 10, but I'll give it a shot.
