Very nice follow-up to the first Sage... could this be considered the new Sal-benza? ;)

Deacon - do you get the privilege of using these knives also, or just photographing them? Thanks for the great pictures.

Not sure how I feel about using that clip on this knife... Seems like a 'regular' clip would look more appropriate to me. Is there any disadvantage with the wire clip sitting on the lock cut-out?

Nice one Paul,

I guessed from the other detail shot that it was the Ti Framelock Sage, but the full picture looks to be better than I had anticipated. The fatory surely did do a great job on the finish of it.

Interesting part will be the pricepoint that this will be marketed at. Full Ti Spyderbenza is going to hurt many competitors ;)

I would hazard a guess that the Native IV and the Framelock Sage will be released in 1st Qtr of 2009. Sonner would be better, but later would mean we can all save up fo thm both :D

Thanks again for the pics.

Wow, that's a very very nice scoop! great pics Paul.
If only that Sage was lefthanded, I'd be all over it. As is, I might just pick one up anyways, but I'll keep it low-profile untill a true ambi version of the Sage comes out.

Thanks Deacon, great shots :D

I am sure I will want/get one. What is not to like?:
*same pattern as the CF one :) . * Framelock :) .

....but I don't know if I will like it as much as the CF one, because I have liked so few all metal knives in the past.???
Wait, I see a modded 1/2 titanium, 1/2 G10-CF knife in my future. :D

Right own Spyderco, looking good.

I love everything but the clip is on the wrong end of the knife. Tip up equals nasty cut up finger in my experience.

This one was a total surprise. Had no idea it was even coming until I opened the box. Even then, while it was still in its little bubble wrap sleeve, my first thought was "Almite Native". Wasn't till I had it in my hand that I knew what it was. No note of any kind, so am kind of hoping I didn't screw up bigtime by posting the photos.

I have no clue on either price or ETA, we'll have to wait for Sal, Kristi, or Joyce to give us those details. I'm guessing the price will be a pleasant surprise compared with what a knife of this quality would cost if made in Seki or Golden. Don't even know what the SKU will be. Imagine they'll have to do something with that to differentiate it from the CF/Walker lock version. For that matter, am not certain whether this version will replace that one, or if both will be offered.

Tricod's "solid as a rock" description just about sums up my feelings toward it too. Top shelf materials, extremely well constructed. Sturdy, but not bulky. I'm sure a lot of folks will be comparing this one to the Sebenza. Don't own one of those myself, but will be interested to see what folks who do think of the Sage when they get their hands on one. Do own a Mnandi, and think the Sage stacks up very well against it. Size wise, it's certainly very close to the small Sebenza, and materials are the same - S30V and titanium. I do wish that, like Chris Reeve, they'd offer a left hand version of this, perhaps the Taiwanese maker will be a bit more flexible about minimum quantities than the folks in Seki.

As for the clip, I'd have opted for a slightly shorter, or longer one myself. Doesn't seem to do any harm landing where it does, just odd, which makes it the one less than perfect detail on the knife. No biggie for me, I'd move it to the other side, or take it off all together. I'm also guessing the price point will allow folks to replace the clip and do other things to make it better suit their tastes. Imagine we'll see some carved ti, G-10 off side slabs, bead blasted blades, etc.

Certainly, and because I'm sure someone will soon ask how well centered the blade is...

Nice thick bronze? washers too. As I mentioned earlier, weight is 98 grams. Thickness is 13/32". Other dimensions are same as the current version.

You could say that. :D It was a gift from Sal, and according to him, there's only one other like it.

I loved the first Sage but wasn't planning on getting the next one due to the lock type. After seeing this though, it's a must have on my list. Thanks for the pics.

I must say again; I love this new Sage! I must have it soon!

Also,
Is the CF on the new Native4; textured like on the Sage, or smooth like on the CF Caly and CF Harpy.

Excellent presentation Paul. I love those pictures.

What a desirable knife. I find I need 2 of them. Now, I need to find out how to pay for even one.

Any ideas how available it will be? This will be limited production perhaps?

Framelocks.........Lame? A few knives come to mind, The Sebenza, Strider, Anso and Yuna Hard Series. Nothing lame about any of those knives, imo.

I personally don't think of them as lame, just unfinished. ;) A liner lock they forgot to put the scales on. I have a few, and none of them have ever claimed a place in my pocket for a whole week.

This one looks nice, as framelocks go. It is nice of Sal to put out a knife I can pass up once in a while. :D
