I always sleep with a knife clipped in the pocket of my sleeping sweats.

Had never one open on me yet.

Heck, I even sleep with my Military clipped in my pockets sometimes. Maybe I should stop that though. First of all it's not the most comfortable knife to sleep with(read big imprint:eek :) and second I have a much bigger chance of the Millie open on me than my lock backs.

Most of the times it's just my Delica 4/SE or SS Police/SE ;)

No knives in bed for me. There's a Kiwi on my nightstand, but if something when bump in the night, I'd grab the 12 gauge instead.

I travel quite a bit, camp out on kayak trips, and have been sleeping with a Spydie in a neck sheath for nearly 20 years when away from home - gray Matriarch since its introduction. Neck sheath allows deployment of the blade on the draw, by incorporating an inertia opening ("Spydie Drop") to the stroke. Super Quick!!!

I like my spydies, but not enough to sleep with them!

It occasionally happens when I fall asleep on the couch for a nap, but that's about it. Apparently I toss and turn in my sleep, so if I wore a knife to bed, I would end up stabbing myself.

The nightstand is close enoiugh for me :)

Don't sleep with any of mine, but there's a nice stick within easy reach. And a couple of knives on the bedstand.

I've been wearing a neck rig since early 2003. Eric Noeldechen (on/scene tactical) made one for my ss 'fly that would take jogging or taking a spill on my bike without letting go. Last couple I had done by our own CKE, but they don't hold quite as tight (had to remold my spur one).

Neck carry is accessable with either hand, can be made for ANY orientation, and is a lot easier to get to when sitting down.

Just keep in mind that the tighter it holds, the more you have to yank on it to get it out until it's broken in. I can pop most of mine in and out with my fingers.

I woke up on top of a half opened serrated endura and thought less of the practice. Luckily, I didn't get hurt, but a cool spydie-edge skin imprint was a funny reminder. S&W 610 has the primary defense duties now.

The nightstand is close inough for me too, next to my glasses.
And even that is more a form of knife-crazyness then for anything else.
With four dogs in the house, I don't think that anyone could sneak up unnoticed.

Why sleep with a knife when I have a Sig P220 .45ACP with two extra mags right next to me on the night-stand. ;)

I figured I might get a rise out of you. :D

Seriously though, I keep a Spydie or two either in the top drawer of my nightstand or under the pillow.

I don't like to keep a knife of any kind in the open on the nightstand. The last thing I need is someone breaking in, and making it all the way up to my room and finding a nice knife right there so they can stab me with it. No thanks. ;)

I have accidentally fallen asleep on my couch with a Paramilitary (open and locked) and thankfully I didn't cut myself but I did poke a hole in the couch. My wife was pissed. :D

I have also woken up and found myself sleeping on a closed Delica or a Spyderco Salt. :D

I keep my knife on the nightstand right next to my Kimber Raptor 45 acp. From all my years in the Military, I can hear a flea fart, so I think I'd have the jump on any fool brazen enough to try and gain entry. And I almost forgot! My 145lb. Rottwieler Samantha does not like night time guests who come uninvited. By the way, there is also a loaded shotgun in the closet about 2 feet from the bed. If an intruder gets by all that, then he can talk to Samantha.( As I always say. I'd rather be tried by twelve, as opossed to being carried by six.)
